I was looking at that when I was building my new PC. But I have not that much space on my desk (or rather I clutter it up so I need all the space I need) so I went for a classic case.

NAS does mean one has to add HDDs, which are for all intents and purposes quite large, noisy and vibrating :3

Replacing the WD Black in my old computer with a notebook drive made a huge difference in acoustics, so ya rly.

    We talking 3.5" HDDs?
    They do make noise.

    Got some 6TBs myself.

If you go higher to 8TB they are often filled with helium and the seeking noise increases slightly.

IDK I don't have anything larger than a 4TB currently, I can't speak for the volume of larger drives but these seem near enough silent even under load (or maybe my H440's sound cladding is just god tier)

In any case, it's a fucking NAS, not like I'll be looking at it physically, I'll probably put it in the wall space between my kitchen and living room.
