    Anyway

Do we have any reliable ideas when 1100GTX series GPUs are coming out?

No, I don't consider wccftech to be reliable

I replaced My 120 mm fan in My PSU. A bit finicky to get back together again but a Hammer helped.

Have you tried nothing and are all out of ideas or have you done the obvious things like check the mounting and cleared dust etc?

If it's making a droning noise then it might well be the bearings, which will probably require a whole new fan

if mine goes I'm just buying a new PSU altogether because it's a ballache

If your PSU fan is droning then I would open the PSU up and check on the caps. I've recently had a set of speakers die on me and quickly fixed it with a capacitor replacement session. The issue is that in the PSU due to the extra heat and time passed, some of the caps may be swollen. They're changed easily and it offers the PSU another few years of life. If they're swollen. If now, change fan and you're set.

I've done it before, it is a bit annoying. You can't just chuck any old fan in there, best bet is to open the PSU first, check the fan that's currently in there, look up the characteristics online (RPM, DC/PWM, air pressure etc) and then find a similar fan to replace it with.

Bonus headache in my case was that the PSU fan had a slightly different pin-out than the normal PWM fan header, so I had to swap 2 pins to make it all work. But it's still purring along nicely several years later so everything worked out OK.

After a number of years away, Crucial is back in the RGB memory market.

Unfortunately, their best product is DDR4-3000 with CL16, so I am passing in favor of G.SKILL. Dashie is getting upgraded very soon.

edit: This is due to dad's system finally having hard drive failures, so I'm building a system using old and new parts.

    But the 8086 was a 5 MHz 16-bit CPU!

It's the 40th anniversary of the 8086. The 8086K is named in honor of it, despite being far more advanced.

Hmm, not sure what's going on. XMP settings in BIOS seem to be correct.

I think I solved my problem. Maybe.

Original issue was that my new DDR4-3200 CL14 RAM was only showing up as DDR4-2132 CL16 in CPU-Z, despite having XMP enabled in BIOS. I saw there was a BIOS update, so I applied it. It knocked all my settings back to default, where I set XMP again. Several reboots later, I still have the green LED for RAM come on during POST, but it goes away during Windows boot. CPU-Z now reports my RAM as CL14, but still has a speed of 2132. Weird.

    So....

Should I think about making a new PC for workings at homes and stuff? (mostly 3d and motion)
    Budget is 4000
    No rush whatsoever,

Previous PC: i7-4930k @4.3ghz OC, 64gb of ram, gtx 1080 ti.

Likely upgrade routes... More cores, more GPU's, maybe fancy system drives

Would the IPC increases or any chipset features in any of the new generation of CPU's make an upgrade worthwhile? (eg +30% improvement from above)
