I think you may be mixing up "like" with "respect".

I actively dislike many of the business practices Elon has been involved with and question how much of his early achievements were due to luck rather than ability, but I respect the contributions to space exploration and energy conservation he has facilitated by bringing the right minds together and using the fame of his name to ensure they have adequate funding.

I can hold the two thoughts in my head at the same time without it exploding.

Thanks for reminding us of your superior special "elon-like" brain that has a special rare ability to hold multiple thoughts. Have you considered a blog, or maybe a newsletter?

You're just jelly cause he is doing all those awesome things that is changing the world, while you are stuck reporting on fake news.
I think he has you blocked.
If he does, mate, you shouldn't deliberately circumvent a block.

Speaking as an Australian, it's pretty exciting. Fingers crossed for maximum success and other states follow suit so we can (long term) get power prices back under control and see return of grid reliability. Last summer really shook people.

Threxiter has a nicer ring to it.

Personally I would advise avoiding trickling electricity down over yourself. If you do decide to experiment with it, be sure to stream it.

You don't have to like Elon Musk to appreciate the ways his companies have helped advance EVs, space exploration and battery tech. I'll probably never own a Tesla. But I could see myself buying a vehicle produced by a company who is competing in the EV market that is being advanced by Tesla.

I'm cringing at the news tho. Lithium batteries have drawbacks, like charge loss over time, so they'll actually have to keep those batteries under constant charging, right up until something happens to the grid, at which point the charge in the battery becomes useful. The intent of the system to provide back-up in situations like that storm has the caveat, that the storm doesn't take out the grid towers connecting the battery/power plant with consumers (which did happen, so lol). The other intent is to provide a short-term storage for intermittent energy from solar and wind, which means daily recharge/discharge cycles, which is fine actually. Very few people are talking about the actual long-term issues with Li-batteries, based purely on supply, available reserves, and recoverability of used lithium. I'm left wondering how much money Musk managed to squeeze out of the deal.

I'm still struggling to see how this is a gamble for musk in any way.

Just sick of hearing about this dickhead.
Think what you will about him and I agree that he personally seems to be very much a dickhead. But he keeps pushing those old dinosaurs in the industries he's touching forward finally, instead letting them reap profits from their old comfort zone on and on without any real innovation going on.
