Tbfh i also dont see a problem with the money going to european industry contractors. While the money could be better spent elsewhere it does more for the economy if its spent locally.

Finland is pretty interested in the EU army and some guarantees for common protection, actually. One could actually say that as NATO membership is not a likely option, common EU defense is one of the things FI is most interested about in the union.

edit: Russian Western Military District HQ and a ton of military assets is in St. Petersburg, less than 400 km from the Finnish Capital
Finland is very low on the russian list tbh, we have plenty of frozen wasteland as it is.

Ah the old Russian aggression meme. They only annexed crimea after the EU promoted a coup to bring down Kiev's government.

it's not like you can actually beat them in anything approaching a stand-up war anyway, sisu beating drunken vodka raging any day of the week.

    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

    Kulaks deserved worse.

Well, crashing headfirst into it with fuck all artillery support didn't do any good, that's for sure. Stavka thought they could just pressure finns into surrender without bypassing the line.
Was a great trial run for KV-1 though.

not-fun fact, Finland fielded 300.000 soldiers, the soviets fielded almost 1.000.000, with a 10-to-1 advantage in aircraft and something like 50-to-1 advantage in armor, yet they managed to lose more men than the total size of the finish army while the finns suffered something like 20% casualties total.

simply put, one does not go to war with Finland, not even if you're Russia, much like you do not go campaigning in Russia in winter.

While as a Finn I do like the sentiment and all this Finland Stronk huff-puff, the fact is that Finland did lose both wars. It's kinda academic to ponder how good a K/D-ratio Finns got when they still lost the fight. And I don't see how anyone in their right mind would consider that in a hypothetical situation anything else would happen today as well.

And as Russia would really not like a NATO Finland, EU guarantees and a common army is probably the politically most sensible approach (and potentially tolerable by Russia as well), so it makes sense to try to aim for that in EU politics.

European Union signed a pact on November 13th agreeing to integrate military funding, weapons development, and deployment of European defenses. In a way, creating a unified mega army.

So fucking Germans and the Frenchies want us to buy shit tier planes and tanks from them thus making them even richer. I wonder why do we need this bullshit EU army? The Russians are never going to invade. We're gonna eat ourselves from the inside by importing the enemy straight in to the hearts of our countries
So you want Europeans to buy American instead? Too much booze, mate.

Hang on weren't we being told there would never be an EU army prior to the UK vote to leave?

We were told the UK would veto it.

Without Brexit would it be required?
