Extreme political stances like Fascism and Communism don't become popular with the general public until the status quo stops giving them hope for a better future.
the future outlook was always utter shit, the only difference between now, and 15 years ago is that there is no longer a promise of shiny toys for the proletariat to distract from the shittiness.

When the Danish conservative party is called Venstre (=the left for non-scandis), what can one expect from the Social Democrats?

actually Venstre is the liberals, Konservative are the Conservatives. (not that you can fucking tell, the liberals are basically conservatives at this point, with the soc-dems being conservative-light)

and the Soc.Dems are set to swing full neo-fascist in that area next general electon judging by the municipal elections, last time it was just "conservative sceptic" immigration hatred.

they are debating sending people back to Raqqa starting next month.

Said every commie ever in response to anything. In reality the problem lies in current government literally riding on back of those people to power. Very similiar how Trump played on racist overtones. Those morons now feel enabled and accepted to display their retardation in public. Now it's not end of the world - they were always here and it's not really nazis on the rise, it's just now they are coming out of woodwork without fear of being ridiculed or persecuted.
You need to look why they got elected in the first place. And if your response to is to call people commies who criticize current mainsteam, just like our liberals do, then have fun with decades of PiS dictatorship. I don't know if I'll be sticking around, I have friends who already fucked off to Germany. Might as well join them.

Oooh, the Konservative, with the thieves from Lithuania -song last election? You're right, I sure as fucking hell could not have guessed, they seemed batshit crazy racists to me. =D

Thanks for correction, I always took Venstre for something else than the liberals. Løkke sure as hell doesn't seem anything else than die-hard conservative.

yup, that song was fucking awful but those are the conservatives, as i said, we've got Conservatives (Konservative), conservatives (Venstre), conservatives-lite (Socialdemokraterne) die-hard liberals (Radikale Venstre), wannabe socialists who are actually social democrats (Socialistisk Folkeparti), red-green alliance (Enhedslisten) awierd-arse want-to-be-social-democrats-but-are-actually-conservative-sort-of-also-fuck-brown-people (Dansk folkeparti) the christian nutters (Kristlig Folkeparti) and of course next election the Nye Borgerlige (want-to-be-national-conservative-but-are-actually-flat-out neofascist libertarians, no, dont ask, i dont get it either)

i'd move to a saner political climate, but i can't find any

you need to add in "want to revoke citizenship based on crime if you have a certain ancestry" and other such gems, but yes.

European Union signed a pact on November 13th agreeing to integrate military funding, weapons development, and deployment of European defenses. In a way, creating a unified mega army.

So fucking Germans and the Frenchies want us to buy shit tier planes and tanks from them thus making them even richer. I wonder why do we need this bullshit EU army? The Russians are never going to invade. We're gonna eat ourselves from the inside by importing the enemy straight in to the hearts of our countries

Maybe it makes sense on general principles because the EU as a whole spends a shitton of money on defense and has shit all combat capability to show for it?

Obviously, the implementation matters, but frankly, considering how embarrassingly much money Germany alone spends with nothing to show for it, almost any change in how things are done can only be a good one.

Finland is pretty interested in the EU army and some guarantees for common protection, actually. One could actually say that as NATO membership is not a likely option, common EU defense is one of the things FI is most interested about in the union.

edit: Russian Western Military District HQ and a ton of military assets is in St. Petersburg, less than 400 km from the Finnish Capital

Also I quite like the idea that 27 member states have to approve of use of an army, instead of 1 just going "lol lets invade there again" and sending theirs.

You can fully blame Trump for EU defence thing. His remarks about honoring article 5 only when he feels like it made a lot of people a bit nervous. Especially when his best buddy is exKGB and closet homo.

Seems like a rational response to Russia annexing land near your borders while your two biggest allies are either divorcing you or suffering from dementia.
