they are a lovely bunch of chaps who have decent taste in food, fun and facist regimes.
Terrible comedy though. Except Henning Wehn, who is goddamn hilarious.
Who is absolutely unknown in Germany.

But then any German comedian is by default awful. Our 'Kabarettisten' though ... I'll let wiki explain.
The latter describes a kind of political satire. Unlike comedians who make fun of all kind of things, Kabarett artists (German: Kabarettisten) pride themselves as dedicated almost completely to political and social topics of more serious nature which they criticize using techniques like cynicism, sarcasm and irony.
Have one of the more established ones (which actually comes with subtitles, slightly dated by now).
Don't think anyone's interested m8. Not enough time to watch everything under the sun, we're busy people here and there are so many comedians already.

    Fair enough.

Meanwhile in Brussels there was a conference about transforming our current economic dogma of growth into something more sustainable and fair: https://www.postgrowth2018.eu/

A reporter with a shirt calling for the release of journalists held prisoner in Turkey was removed from a press conference between Erdogan and Merkel. Guess Merkel didn't want to offend the Sultan.

Not as chancellor - just as head of CDU.

Surely it's a sign of things to come. She won't be chancellor after the next election.

It's a reaction to the two last really-lost-but-somehow-still-won state elections in Bavaria and here in Hesse. Major losses for the conservative parties (CSU in Bavaria, CDU in Hesse), but still the strongest of the weak parties.

She won't be chancellor after the next election.
Rumors had it that she already thought about not running again prior to the last election in September 2017. And that she won't do it in 2021.

Yeah don't think anyone was expecting her to try again.

Just watch her press conference during my lunch break. Very clear, leaves no loopholes:

    - She gives up head of party, as mentioned above
    - She' NOT going to run for chancellor again in 2021
    - She's NOT gonna run for parliament again in 2021
    - She's NOT going to take any other politial job/role, e.g. president or (which most speculated) something EU

In short: she's basically retiring (politically) after the current term.

    tl;dr
"Fuck off, I'm sick and tired of this shit"

All hail Merkel. She continues the fine German tradition of trying to destroy Europe.

French President Emmanuel Macron has urged the creation of a “true, European army” to protect the continent from Russia, China and the United States.

"We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America," Macron told Europe 1 radio on Tuesday, Agence France-Presse reported.

We can't even get the EU to work properly. How are they expecting a defense force to work?

A joint EU military force has been talked about for over a decade, but there was this one member state with veto powers that kept shooting down all such proposals *cough* UK *cough*.
