Jews should think twice before wearing a yarmulka in certain areas of Germany, the head of the country’s Jewish umbrella group warned Thursday.
“The question is whether it makes sense to be recognizable as Jews in certain areas… by wearing a yarmulka, or whether it’s better to wear a different head covering. This is indeed a development that I didn’t see five years ago and that is a little frightening.”
In an interview with a Berlin-based radio station, Schuster said such areas include “problematic quarters,” particularly in Berlin but also elsewhere in Germany, “and districts with strong Muslim populations.”
Jews and Jewish institutions feel safe in Germany, Schuster said, adding, however, that he still asked authorities to boost security. “It is certainly necessary to improve security especially for smaller and medium-sized Jewish communities.”
The number of anti-Semitic hate crimes increased in Germany in recent years. While in 2013, some 790 such cases were registered, last year the number climbed to 1076, according to Spiegel Online, the country’s leading news portal, quoting yet unpublished government figures
Proof that the universe is a circle?

You might find this essay interesting as it tackles this particular flaw in modern Western thought. https://www.roger-scruton.com/images...man-rights.pdf

Eating meat perpetuates ‘hegemonic masculinity,’ prof says

In the most recent issue of the Journal of Feminist Geography, professor Anne DeLessio-Parson argues that “hegemonic masculinity implies an imperative to eat meat” and that this helps reify other power hierarchies as well.

Clearly, I picked a wrong field to specialize in.

Can I just point out that I probably eat less meat than 90% of the guys here and yet am clearly a misogynist with no empathy?

The British government has been knocking that door for ages.

It's a terrible door that nobody should be knocking on.

Hold it, mate. Remember the data retention laws, that german politicans still trying to pass since like forever? Well, we've got a Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht, abr. BVerg) that meanwhile has slammed that law not only once, but twice. It actually voided it, which unlike with other constitutianl decisions, where the court sets a time frame within which the law must be adjusted accordingly, all past results and rulings depending on it are void with immediate effect.

Keep also in mind that this court has defined a new constitutional right, named "Das Recht auf informationelle Selbstbestimmung" (~ informational self-determination), which states that a person holds the rights to all of its data (and therefore companies can't just pass my personal data around without my consent).

So I'm very relaxed about this proposal and looking forward to see this go to the BVerG, too.
