k2so is also maybe my favourite star wars character to date.
    Discount Han Solo.
    Discount millennium falcon.
    Discount hail Mary plan.
    Discount HK47.
Lots of useless main cast deaths, even from the beginning.
Such tension, much mystery, what'll happen next oh noes.
Vader was cool but that was it. Shit overall, could not keep awake.
Intelligence officer who will kill assests to protect his mission
cool helicopter style ship that no one ever makes out as special like the falcon
desperate times calling for desperate mission
    Discount HK47
lots of deaths to increase gravity of situation.
its a suicide mission every one knows it.
    Vader was cool

At no point did it have the feel of desperation. "oh, everyone tends to die at moments notice" does not create tension, it just distances everything. you can't maintain a feel of drama and importance if you sprinkle slapstick comedy in every other scene.

I expected plot armor to prevail while watching Rogue One.

I was pleasantly surprised in the end.

    This.

I was expecting some bullshit-Disney ending that resulted in the primary protagonists being stranded away from the war and was happy that didn't happen.

@sarabando - this. I don't have adhd, I've sat through Blade Runner too many times to qualify. It just feels shit, no tension at all and no I could not get attached to the Characters so that it feels bad when they die, it's just pointless and feels forced like yeah see we can kill all the main cast, yeah? Except nobody really fucking cares they die.

I cared. I found the ending with their death on the beach to be moving.

But then Im pretty sure thats more to do with the score than any attachment to Jyn or Frenchsolo.

    Also maybe residual RIP RoboWash.

First half of Rogue One was not good however.

If that Asian mechanic chick had her way that entire Casino planet would be first up against the wall when La Resistance finally wins.

They're currently on Rogue One. It's a webcomic of Star Wars, as if the whole thing was played by tabletop gamers. It makes far too much sense. For the R1 arc they've got two guest commentary writers who haven't seen the movie reacting to each strip.

Just watched it... later than everybody else... but anyways.

    My verdict is:
Good entertainment in Imax but not more than that. And here good means, as someone said "Good in a Nu-trek" way.

    Anyways,
Whole film/scripts feels like it went thorough to many "test audiences" and in a way where specific scenes and outcomes were tested but no one bothered to make the specific scenes stick togheter.

    Also,

Poe is the new Jar Jar.

    Excellent bait post
"I think we could all do with sitting back a bit and detaching ourselves from the situation to really think about how these issues reflect on our future and how we discuss them here and be a bit less aggressive or defensive because everyone has a complicated set of circumstances that has led the to place importance on particular issues and it doesn't meany any of them is less valid, we just need to look at the broader picture"

But nu-trek is basically star wars, so star wars is good in a star wars kind of way?

    OK.

Well, I haven't seen it before, so I thought it was neat.

Easter eggs, cameos etc in the Last Jedi. Pretty extensive list of nods towards previous movies, books, comics and series.
