They actually submitted the 2010 annual report in May 31 to the appropriate government body (the RSK).

From my understanding, you just have to hop by the office during opening hours (9:30-15:30), maybe pay a nominal fee and then you can consult/copy it.

Anyone in Iceland/having a long interconnect there? If anything an interesting thing to do for CSM members next time they are flown here.

In many countries companies offer access to that online for cheap, couldn't find any for Iceland.

I for one really want to know whether they are broke or not.

They're about the only company in Iceland where taking out a huge (presumably foreign currency) loan was a GOOD thing, since their revenues are in hard (ish, lolUSD, lolGBP) currency while much of their expenses are in actual Icelandic Kronors which are now worth basically nothing.

But yeah they're completely fucked, especially since they probably had to pay rather high interest to get de monies.

That's depending on company legal structure but basically only true for very small companies or uncivilized countries. The link I provided is clear enough that they indeed, published their results.

In US & Canada private company reports are not public. You have to file with the governments in whose jurisdictions you do business (this can be a huge pain in the ass) for taxes and that's it.

In the UK and much of Europe, including Iceland, nearly all companies (whether they are listed or private) have to file their reports with the government such that they are publicly available (with or without a mostly nominal filing fee). In the UK these records are stored at Company House.

For the US, charities and non-profits have to file statements which are publicly available (usually with some nominal filing/copying fee involved). Companies with stock listed on a public exchange or with >500 shareholders have to file documents with the SEC which are available free using EDGAR.
