Really, if I like the show I gonna watch the next episode regardless. I don't need a cliffhanger that just lets me stay awake way too long.

New book is out in a couple of months

That should tide you over until the show comes back on again

I'm 2/3 into book three and just bing-watched season 2 (I'm trying to stay ahead of the TV show). Interesting to see how they compress the story in the TV show. Makes for some WTF?!? moments, but I do see why they made that decision. And as the story takes a different turn to achieve the final outcome of the books, it offers some surprise moments / does away with the "Boring, 'cause I know what's coming next".

    I'm enjoying both, so far.

The thing is, that's what I like about him as a 'hero'. He bumbles through the books because he has the one skill of being able to make snap decisions, when the other characters can't and he spends most of his off time questioning whether he made the right decision and why it seems to always fall on him to do it.

This is generally how I feel about Holden. We all love a good superhero captain like Mal or Picard, but Holden is more like a manager who you don't hate and generally does a good job without being better than everyone else at everything on top of leading them all. He's just a guy in space who always needs some coffee.

Oh fuck yeah, sometimes I'm happily reminded that not all my favorite stories are written at GRRM pace. Thanks!

So the next book in the series "Persepolis rising" comes out on the 5th for all of you that are interested.

If you are in the UK, you can also get it early, since Waterstones fucked up and allow you to abuse their click and collect service to grab books before the release date.

Just grabbed my copy from the Waterstones in Kensington

So I finished the new book.

Its decent, but is mostly just a setup for the final two books in the series.

There is also a massive time gap between the Nemesis games / Babalon's ashes story and the setting of the new novel, which is a bit jarring.

Ive read the books halfway to where some frontier hillbillys blow up their own supply ship because thatll show 'em.

Dunno, couldnt hold my interest or maybe i just got distracted. I guess it was building up to real-life-aliens-not-ancient-hyperpowerful-computer-programs? Maybe ill pick it up over the holidays.

Seth mcfart is just a terrible actor, enjoyed the series despite him.

    Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident..

Why need bad aliens when humans are our worst enemy?

I must get around to reading the books. When im not autisming on EVE
"I think we could all do with sitting back a bit and detaching ourselves from the situation to really think about how these issues reflect on our future and how we discuss them here and be a bit less aggressive or defensive because everyone has a complicated set of circumstances that has led the to place importance on particular issues and it doesn't meany any of them is less valid, we just need to look at the broader picture"

Cibola burns was the low point for me. It sits in an uncomfortable spot between the two main story arcs of the expanse (LW>AG, then NG>BA) and don't do that much to move the whole thing forward. I highly recommend Nemesis games. I think it was the best book in the series as almost all of the point of view characters are members of the Rocinante crew.

What Cibola Burn brings to the table, is to introduce the alien worlds as alien.
As that "planet" they settled first on is a wee bit special.

It does the job well to explain how advanced this race was.

Finally done with Cibola Burn, and what a slog it was. The first half of the book, anyway; things thankfully picked up after - which is nice, otherwise I'd have canned the rest of the series. Interesting set-up for the next book, however.

    Yes, same here.
I find that to be a very weird decision, especially considering that they are doing a TV show. Will they "age" the actors for the rest of the show?
    Different plot for the show?
    Timetravel solution setup?

    Its weird.
