[Monday] Starting my week with an all-nighter edition
Tonight's surge of productivity sponsored by Earth
With any luck my website and business plan will be complete by sunrise. I don't suppose any of you need a digital marketing consultant?

If I did, I'd certainly consider you... but no, sorry

Me too. Surge of productivity from caffeine and procrastination panic followed by a few hours of celebratory sleep.

I've covered a lot of their materials but never been able to convince myself to fork over £900 the courses and assessments. How're you finding it?

Got into work last night and sat down to eat something because I was starving when sure enough things started to go wrong.
Spent half an hour getting my system back up and running so the gas to grid connection stayed up when another site 10 mins away started going wrong, spent just over an hour trying to get two engines working again when I decided I had other shit to do and called out some other engineers because I'm too important to stay at the worst performing power plant.
Get back and sure enough another site went down which I sure as fuck wasn't going to drive out to so called up the nearest engineer to sort it.
Then my power plant went down, all in all it was one of the busiest nights I've had since starting this gig and all I really wanted to do was go work, eat and snooze a bit.
Still I'm posting this while munching on toast and having a cuppa before going bed for the next few hours, enjoy your monday!

Another fun day at work ahead and then a boring 3.5 hour train journey to Bristol, where I get to spend the rest of my week. I just need to find things to do there in Tuesday and Thursday night so I'm not stuck in my hotel.

Day 11 of being sick (counting from the first day with symptoms). Started getting worse yesterday after several days of getting better each day. Went to the doctor this morning and did get antibiotics this time. Also Doc told me to forget about working this week, so I guess I have to procrastinate another week away. Given that I feel well enough to turn on the computer again since Saturday this week should be a lot better than last week I guess.

Thinking of learning how to develop Android apps because I need 1-2 apps and there simply aren't any. Anyone got some decent resources I could look into on how to develop apps? My java knowledge is basic so I'll probably have to look into that first.
I did find this on the edx website https://www.edx.org/micromasters/gal...roid-developer but courses like these are really hit and miss in my experience.

So, after going on yuletide-break in December I had no idea when I was supposed to start working again other than that I knew the new semester started on the 11th. This despite me asking "higher ups" several times, this is not the first time I have been missed or forgotten in the information loop (it has been an ongoing problem since I started, despite me noting on it every single time.) So this time I just went "Unless informed otherwise I will just show up on the 11th.", not trying to be to big of a douche I actually checked my workmail on Friday evening to see if I had gotten any information regarding the new semester... Not a single mail other than Happy New Years wishes.
On Saturday I meet a co-worker who wonders if I am coming in on Monday (when he/she/it starts), to which I replied "Nope, why? Unless informed otherwise I will show up on the 11th.".
Today I got a text from my boss saying,
Co-worker just told me that you are not coming in today, I mailed everyone yesterday and I forgot to mention that you should not be in on pre-plan days. Would have been good if you asked.
So... My boss,
is annoyed due to me not showing up on a day, when I'm not expected to work on that day.
sends out an email on Sunday evening, annoyed that I have not read it. [Best part is that the email that went out on Sunday had an attachment, a mail containing information regarding the new semester (that were sent out the 19 of Dec.).]
irritated that I did not ask when and where I were supposed to be when the new semester started (I did!).
A real "Thank you too, Monday"...

Playing da magic tonight and brought my trades with me. That feeling when you're carting around about £2k worth of cardboard in your backpack.

Only to other nerds though. I mean, it's not likely to be stolen by muggles.

You say that but it's not uncommon for trade folders to get nicked. People know trading cards are worth a lot and criminals are known to target MtG events (hence me clinging to my stuff like it were glued to my hand whenever I go to a larger event).
