Essentially yes I think - so its focussed around content delivery and updating, with some added Twitch streaming integration stuff.

Proper netcode to make this not a laggy unsync'd mess supposedly is coming later for 3.0 ?

The Network lag is what 3.0 and Item 2.0 is going to fix.
ATM, it works like eve, where everyone broadcasts all actions to everyone.

The new system is supposed to compartmentalize it, so you only get data from those you need.

Amazon released a free game engine to develop games, it's based on CryEngine so the transition should be easy. Also, it helps with the netcode to use amazon servers...

That does seem to be the general consensus.

Just another generic twitchmonkey shooter with very fancy graphics and zero-g.

very bad weapon handling combined with the fact that everyone is a bullet sponge. The netcode is garbage and the gameplay itself is just meh.

not to mention its buggy as hell, but thats OK.

DUST514 was better at being a shooter then this.

I agree it's shit. It's clunky, confusing (lot of "what do I do now" and "what just killed me" moments), bugged (sound, fps).

also, I hate the "I want to take a peek around this corner, but my rifle won't let me"

    no.. those actually play well.

their effort to have physically correct FPS movement on an actual skelleton is a bad idea and it shows.
there is a reason why every successfull shooter uses the "floating camera"

I know, anyone with a hit of common sense knew that from the start sadly. Was just laughing at the description since it describes them perfectly too.

Played it today on a friends PC, dear god it's awful. How can this have taken 4 years? Its been 18 months since Chris Roberts stood on a stage and said "2-3 more weeks max". WTF have they been doing in the interim?

Easy, they went from a fully functional fps engine and decided they knew better than then FPS focused company who made it in the first place and all of the fps game history. They scrapped it completely once or twice along the way and I'm not sure if there's anyone but the most deluded idiot who thought it would end up any good after all that.

I'm sure these game design, project and process management problems won't be an issue for all the other aspects of Star Citizen though, no sireee. This is an isolated issue for sure.
