Can anyone tell me what kind of ram usage they get in game with roguetech? I installed it yesterday and it eats up 7 gigs of ram instantly then stutters to shit.

(I still have 8 gigs of ram, I know it's not alot.)

This is probably related to all the mechs imported from MWO without any optimization.
And tons of extra game rules and features. And it is all done in sequence.

Damage calculation --> critical hits checks --> pilot damage --> knockdown?? --> Pilot stress level and so on.
    Unity engine is quite bad

Even vanilla tends to eat a lot, especially during long sessions. Almost feels memory leaky. I would consider 16 + ssd install to be minimum for smooth gameplay.

Last night I had a crazy 3,5 skull mission.

My lance was to escort a Liao & Kurita Lance to a extraction point.
    OPFOR was 3 Davion Lances.
The game can handle this many Mechs in play at once.

GIVE US COMPANY vs COMPANY missions.
4 vs 4 +4 is quite easy to tank.
8 vs 8 or 12 vs 12 would bring in a lot of casualties and make the game more gritty.
Funding has never been a problem, but they would have to open up the market for more mechs available.
Or even better, force you into a House allegiance for a consistent supply.

    fyp

Rogtek sure eats a shitload of ram but as soon as you drop it's smooth sailing.

Ive started a chill fresh campaign playthrough, since i hadnt touched the game since release after the first major patch bricked all my QOL mods.

Liking the talent changes, although i still think theres more that could have been done. Still, much better than 1.0. Are the pirate faction / black market unlock also new? Dont remember them.
Are Marauder / Archer DLC / mod content or can i look forward to my two favourite mechs?

Think ill play through and if it hasnt gone on sale until then ill spring for the season pass for career mode. For all it faults it really hits that big stompy robots itch.

    >replaying the campaign
now that's a thing i will never do, flashpoints are badly narrated enough on their own
it's like their writers think they are working on an anime and not scifi dystopia

New skills an improvement, but for end game there is only one real option...

I can see multitarget, but i am stubborn and mixing it up a bit with breaching shot on one char and a scout. Maybe ill regret it, dont care atm.

Multitarget is a must have skill.
And Coolant Vent fluid is the strongest ability in the game.

Gladiators 4tw, never missed any of the other skills.
Bulwark got nerfed so Breaching Shot isn't that good anymore.

    multitarget should be baseline tbh.
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

I did experiment with some other skills this weekend.
Tried making a Recon pilot, for my Zeus dream-team. It was a disaster. Surefooting + Ace Pilot & Sensor Locking.
Not having access to Multi-Target was terrible to play, and since I only use Energy/LRM setups my 'Mechs run hot. Not being able to flush the coolant was disastrous.

    Gladiators 4tw!
Of course, if you don't run hot 'Mechs then you can manage without Coolant Vent.
But hitting that desert planet and having a drawn out fight is going to affect you.
With my energy based layouts, I can hold fire for one turn and almost fully reset my heat bar.

I don't think I played prior to the bulwark nerf, and it still feels almost mandatory, although I end up tying myself in knots to stay in cover sometimes. that damage reduction is huge, especially against LRM spam.
Totally not Victoria Stecker forgetting his password and not having access to his work email.

Bulwark is still a very good skill, you can manage without by stacking Vigilance & Cover.
However, Coolant Flush that is behind it is so strong for mechs running lots of weapons.
Gives you another 2-3 turns with heavy fire before you have to cool off.

But still it doesn't make Breaching Shot mandatory, you can easily overcome someones defense stacking by knocking them down.
LRM boat to make them unstable, second makes fires at second mech + multishots some missiles to knock it over.
Then Mech's 3 & 4 rape the first mech, activate a vigilance if you need more damage to destroy it.

Unless ammo in CT, it is less efficient to aim for it on knocked down mechs.
Destroy a side torso, then all damage rolls to it and the arm is transferred to CT.
While on a CT aim, it is much higher chance for hits to land on either side of CT.

After playing the vanilla campaign a bit, theres so far two builds i like: Gladiator, obviously; and a combination of Master Tactician with any of Sure Footing / Bluwark / Multi-target. I prefer to use the +1 initiative to jump into MLaser range and called shot leg / CT so Sure Footing works well, plus you pick up sensor lock on the way for picking off turrets. Master Tactician alone doesnt do much that knocking things over with LRMs wouldnt do tho.

Ive bricked my player character for the lulz with Ace Pilot, but finding an opportunity to make it worth is basically non-existent. Breaching Shot is basically only relevant on Gauss / AC20 boats.

After i got bored with my vanilla career with 600 days left I decided to try mods again, Roguetech first. Holy shit what a clusterfuck. Loading times dumpstered, and every pissant piece of equipment that was ever mentioned in a source book available from the start. My main mech was a Hellspawn variant with a pirate LRM30 pre-installed. After about half an hour of staring at loading screens i ended up in the first mission, and the launcher promptly blew itself up.

Couple of fun ideas in there (like run+gun and friendly fire) but overall flat out unuseable. Roguetech did unlock 8-mech drops, which is another thing i would really love if it didnt break the software side of things.

Fresh installing BE Extended CE now, hopefully that gets rid of all the kitchen sink shit and doesnt completely brick load times. Tbh my ideal mod would be a mechanical rebalance (skills, map sizes, evasion and movement) and slow progression from 3025 through Helm Core to clan invasion and stopped at around 3067 before all the WoB shit where the fluff went full retard.

Anyone know if Extended Lore and Rebalance or 3062 Advanced do what i am looking for?

I am in the same boat as you are. I loved the idea of Roguetech as well the expanded battle map and double-size lances, but the long load times as well as it crashing after my first successful mission while loadong into the salvage screen led me to decide not to touch it again for a while.

BEXCE is pretty polished and it feels like a true extension to the base game. Stable, zippy, keeps the familiar mechanics but improving on them (and also rebalances the skills, but does not add new mech systems like armor or engines ("Mech Engineer")), mech and pilot quirks, panic and fatigue system. The new version that I am beta-testing adds the full 3025-3050 mech rarity tables, so that as time goes by mechs start to pop-up more/less frequently as per the tabletop rules. Movement and evasion has been touched a bit as well. Overall, I am really enjoying it. Also it has the full Inner Sphere Map (tbh, I am neutral about it; it's a cool feature but honestly too many systems to realistically matter) and Galaxy At War which is quite fun, and Loot Magnet which improves massively the salvage collection process. As a bonus, the Bounty Hunter is also included. Sadly, no expanded battle map sizes or double lance size (you can add the mod for that manually but have not dabbled with that yet).

At the moment I am trying Advanced 3062 and it's really growing on me. It truly feels like an in-between for BEXCE and Roguetech. Good loading times, stable, 3062 mech and tech stuff but no Clans, the original game Periphery map, and includes the Roguetech Mech Engineer. Touches evasion and the skill system but only a little bit. It does not have GaW, Loot Magnet, pilot quirks, pilot fatigue or panic system but I added those myself.

I would say try both to see what you like most. For me, my ideal mod would be BEXCE with Mech Engineer, expanded battle map size and lance size (finally can have specialized mechs for various roles!) and a mech part rarity table (if that thing is even possible), and a starting date selection module.

Does rarity tables mean stock lore specific? Or does the chance of getting lostech also go up? I recognize that its badly balanced, but having some OP gear in the lategame extends the fun factor imo.

Still in the early game of 1.6.2 BEXCE, but liking it so far. Seconding that the full map is a bit overkill, also because it adds lag when you filter, but better than the tiny vanilla map imo.

I do know that all of the campaign and DLC lostech stuff are in BEXCE, but I don't know if anything more is there or how their appearance is governed. On the matter of Advanced 3062 though, I downloaded the new version today from Nexus and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it allows lances up to 8 mechs strong, depending on the mission type and the skull rating. That mod just got bumped up on my approval list!

8 mechs ? so you get to actually deploy 8 mechs from the Argo ?
