    Battletech

I did not know this was a thing until now. Did a search for it on here and it looks like no one else noticed either (although the search is shit and I only went back 3 pages).

First turn based battletech game in 20 years. Honestly, after being stung with MWOs bait and switch i'm not 100% on backing any game anymore, but there is something about big stompy mechs and I just cant resist.

There was a thread, but I can't seem to find it either.

This is Jordan Weissman and harebrained, the same devs who did the isometric Shadowrun over the last few years. He wrote the original Battletech (and shadowrun) pen and paper games for FASA. I backed this. They did a good job with Shadowrun.

See now, I definitely think they deserve better than a post in the MWO forums. That's unfair to harebrained.

I'm pretty sure I posted about it here. Maybe in kickstarter thread?

Well its been kickstarted so it gets its own thread to fester away until such time it is released and is the most glorious turn based game ever. Man I miss those games.

i am legit excited for this, very much so, hoping it flat-out kills megamek by being better than it.
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

I liked MegaMek for a while, but haven't used it for years now. I'd pay serious cash dollar for a straight up conversion from tabletop to PC, with proper graphics and a good interface.

Technically every online game of all time has a limited online community. Some are just much more limited than others.

It's going to be turn based with an initiative system. You have to remember that the developer basically was the developer of the tabletop game, and we all pretty much backed a computer version of the tabletop game with advanced enhancements to the rule set that would have, and this was told to me by wiessman himself, in person, been impossible to implement in the original tabletop game because they wouldnt have been able to fit them on a one page mech sheet.

The ruleset is pretty far off the original TT afaik.

The initiative system alone is something I donīt fully understand here.

Light mechs move first? So every heavy can just line them up in bring them in perfect fireposition right away?
Yes, firing first also has itīs advantages but i think good position outweighs that. Depends a lot on the damage numbers they used again....

Anyway, looking forward to this. Played megamek online campaigns for a while and had a blast, if that is only half as good it will be amazing.
