I played the original on the ZX Spectrum and Frontier on the Atari ST and this "feels like Elite", using mostly my old keyboard controls with the mouse for looking around... I'm loving it atm. I feel like a noob but I don't if you know what I mean. I lost my shit when I was ready to dock and the lady with the strong Manc accent said hello (half expected one of the Gallagher brothers to shout "mad for it" in the background)

Oh gimballed weapons is a new thing and they feel like easy mode, I'm not a fan of those...

Right with ya man. Played the original on Beeb, C64, Amiga, Acorn and PC. Keyboard and mouse all the way, tried a stick but it didn't take. Don't give a shit about multiplayer anything, I just play solo because that's how the original was. Eve was the game I played while waiting for this.

The feels still be strong after 30 years.

Thrustmaster sels a nice HOTAS for ~$120 for when you feel like upgrading.

Currently sat in an A fit viper mk4 with a type 6 (full D fit with A fsd, max cargo) doing the current community goals which I only learned was a thing after starting playing last week, through sporadic play I'm top 25% for both which should be a nice wee payout of 30ish mill could be more if the combat GC catches up (rival gc's)

Love my viper, but will go to a vulture when they payout, also need to get horizons when I get payed
