I have to say that the Samsung thing is very tempting (although I am not a fan of white computery things). Now I just need to figure out what to do with my old display.

I have put the Samsung CF791 on back order (as it is "temporarily out of stock") with Amazon (UK) to "lock in the current price". I am a VA panel man at heart (suck it IPS fools), and that seems to be the best option that is around (AOC is not available yet it seems and HP is both not yet available and looks like it will be very expensive).

Just that they'll be a bit better in general.
The screens from Acer and Asus are insanely overpriced.

I think the LG 38UC99 is indeed the only 1600p 21:9 monitor available at the moment.

Notice that both the Acer and Asus 21:9 monitors are a yearish old, any new ones on the horizon?

Edit: how much of a gimmic is HDR and are there any curved 21:9 ones coming?

Quick google tells me they will be released later this year. Hmm

A "p" revision of the Acer display has been announced for some time, but not out yet as far as I know:

    http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitor...s-wqhd-g-sync/

    Not sure about Asus.

HDR is definitely worthwhile for video playback and I would think also for games (not so much for "normal computing" unless you want to be blinded by a white window background).

Nvidia has a standard for HDR and a reference panel I think:

No displays out yet, but they won't be cheap for a while I think.

HDR will add quite a bit expense for a while I would think, because of 10bit panels and local dimming. Edit: on top of current prices.

Acer will also release a 1600p display, called Acer XR382CQK. Not out yet though:

Just stumbled over this thread. That Acer x34A looks rather nice and I need a new screen. But 1000+ bucks for a computer monitor? I don't know man.

    21:9 monitors

It is so totally not worth that much

Edit: XR38 - does that mean it is 38"? That is somewhat ridonculus. Ah, only 37,5. Damn. That is almost the size of what my TV was a few years back...

Diagonal sizing is pretty deceptive with a lot of these aspect ratios, I suspect that the square display area is much smaller than a 38" TV (Which is probably 4:3 or 16:9 depending on age).

I got a cheap LG 29" when I got too annoyed by my second not that old but old Samsung 24" screen. 29" is about as high as a 16:9 24" screen, so it went well with my second 24" even older but still really good Samsung.

Can't recall what LG I have exactly, but it's a 1080 screen so probably not that interesting for y'all. I found it awesome not just for games, but also when working. Getting three A4 sized pages at 100% on screen in Word is great.

Yeah, I'm kinda curious how it will work out with a 21:9. I've got two monitors today; 27" 1080p and 28" 4k. The 27" is nice for watching HBO when doing long range exploration in Elite and stuff, but I kinda think that the immersion that the 34" should offer trumps that. If need be, I can always watch on an iPad or something.

So - the Acer X34A arrived yesterday. Replaced a 27" 1080p from Acer and a 28" 4K (60Hz) from Samsung. Also went from 980 Sli to a single 1080 Ti.

    Pros:
    - my god 100Hz ultra wide looks so gooooood
    - dat immersion

    Cons:
    - Very low WAF ("sure, it looks nice, but what did it cost?")
    - Constant raging boner in pants..

Now downloading DCS and the Viggen Module. Time for autist gaming. Also; BF1 in 21:9 and 100hz with Gsync and a proper GFX-card is pretty sweet.
