The CMC episodes this season have been weak, and unfortunately this episode doesn't do anything to change that. Which is not to say that it's bad - it's a decent enough episode - it's just rather simple. The guest VA knocked it out of the park though, both in line readings and in the song.

And the cold open, though basically unrelated to the actual plot, was pretty good... "Ooohhh, she's an archeologist."

It's supposed to be paleontologist. Also, Zecora was shown with her cutie mark (she's not a pony, but she is an equine). This will surely be fuel for several comics.

I didn't feel this episode was weak. It showed how the characters adapted to a difficult situation.

Well the quote is literally "archeologist," but yes, that's a writer's error and a paleontologist would be more correct.

I doubt any child would know what a paleontologist is, never mind the difference between archaeologist and paleontologist. So I doubt it was an error and more deliberately using a word a child would know.
