It's a well made game, and quite fun. It would be scary for Daniel, but I'm not Daniel. I'm the guy running him off a bridge, to see what it sounds like when his legs break. A very satisfying *crunch* *Argh* btw.

The whole "I'm not Daniel" reminds me of a review who wasn't scared of some horror game because it didn't abduct his family(the only frightening situation for him apparently).

If you play video games while detaching your ego from them, what is the point in playing? Seems like a waste of money to me. The fun starts to happen when you identify with the character you are playing (see Eve Online). It's like going to a movie and making sure the screenplay's dialogue is grammatically correct and uses sufficiently challenging ACT level vocabulary before you can be certain that you enjoyed it. That said, I found your Amnesia 'review' to be very amusing.

So I finally manned up and started playing this.

I got about an hour in right around the bit where

you get the key to the wine cellar and then there's a bunch more ambient noises and as you're coming out of the library there's SOMETHING IN THE HALLWAY AHEAD OF YOU BUT IT'S NOT THERE BY THE TIME YOU GET THERE

at which point I made a fucking beeline for the area exit, saved, and closed the game.

Oh, no no. She can't play them herself, she gets too scared. She needs her hands free to cling while she screams. It makes playing anything scary worthwhile. I can enjoy them vicariously through her terror.

I crouched on top of a box with the lamp off staring at the wall for what seemed like an hour waiting for that thing to go away. Jeeeeeeeeesus.

Srsly clever design though, explaining the mechanics for most of the scaries and then the first you encounter is the ONLY ONE that doesn't follow ANY of those rules. lololololol

Only the part about staying in the dark is correct, the rest depends. There is no need to crouch as long as you keep out of their LoS. Looking at them won't necessary make them detect you either, but you will definitely lose sanity.


I bet you'll like the monster in the first water area, he's a real champ.

So I popped into the guest room

and grabbed the machine room key, then hid in the fucking closet while SOMETHING shuffled around in the room. Stayed perfectly still crouching in the closet until I was sure it was gone, then cautiously peeked out.

That was pretty neat. I think I need a new pair of pants though.

This game is pretty good with the whole scary element, ie being extra careful not to actually let you see the nightmarish horrors sharing the castle with you. And also to discourage you from actually looking at them. Very clever design.

It's one of the final rooms, the one with the fog, really nice place to be in!
