Fuck me hold the front page, an EU 'elite' might have just got it....
"I think we could all do with sitting back a bit and detaching ourselves from the situation to really think about how these issues reflect on our future and how we discuss them here and be a bit less aggressive or defensive because everyone has a complicated set of circumstances that has led the to place importance on particular issues and it doesn't meany any of them is less valid, we just need to look at the broader picture"

Chances are the 'less integration' will be integrating everything which benefits 'elite' capital owning classes and un-integrating worker protections.

Luxembourg and the few other EU tax havens should really be eradicated at the earliest convenience. The faster this happens the better, hoping Brexit accelerates this and sets a minimum on corporate tax, for example.

That's pretty good and really highlights what the Bundeswehr is lacking but could have going for it.
Our submarines are decent to say the least, our frigates are probably not bad either looking at how well they sell.
Our infantry is shite when it comes to deploying overseas and doing so quickly. Not just due to the utter aversion felt by politicians and the public alike towards the use of the military, but also the lack of ability.

very good points, and one of the (few) reasons why post brexit the EU will still need UK - although the french have numbers, and the germans have potential only really the UK have expertise. same applies to intelligence agencies, probably why macrons visit had all the hurf blurf but in the background a fairly steady commitment to keep intelligence sharing uninterrupted

I wouldn't say the French have no expertise. They've been involved in various conflicts in Africa for a long time now, apart from also being in the fight against ISIS and the Taliban back whenever.
