Step 1: do as you're fucking told

Step 2: dry your eyes and read up what "dependency" means
    Quoting the article linked above:

"The amendment does not apply to the crown dependencies, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, because parliament does not have the legal right to impose its will on them."

If you could please stop making idiots look smart it would be greatly appreciated.

Technically, they can, but it would require abandoning a lot of convention re: the islands right to self determination/consultation, Parliament hasn't imposed legistlation upon us without our explicit consent for a very long time.

    "stop hiding bad guy's money"
    "no"
    "we're all out of ideas"

Probably how this will play out.

    more like

    "stop hiding bad guys money"
"it's all in the BVI* you berks"
"oh, well shit, we can't touch that, are you sure?"
    "fuck off"

not surprised that the Tories are going after us before the City though, really makes you ponder

*Belize, Bermuda, Monaco could also fit here, and are likely less regulated than any British overseas territory or crown dependency.

edit: I'm not even sure what the result they want from this is tbqh, the money will just move elsewhere and be under even less scrutiny (although I guess if it moves out of the UK entirely then we can all feel like it's not our problem anymore)

What does anti-Semitism have to do with Windrush.

When a Labour MP who doesn't like Corbyn is really vocal about alleged anti-semitism in the Labour Party but shuts up about racism in the Tory party you have to wonder about their motives.

Latest numbers of seats declared in the local elections...

    Labour: 1832 (+58)
    Cons: 1225 (-7)
    Lib Dem: 444 (+49)
    Green: 34 (+5)
    UKIP: 3 (-121)

Much of the media are still saying that it was a bad night for Labour though.

Latest news is that one seat that UKIP have retained is their one on BBC Question Time.

I see a few people got confused by the ballot and were miscalculated as Greens

Isn't this is a pretty bad result for an opposition party? Especially one that has the advantage of running against a tone-deaf and incompetent government?

Democrats in the US have been taking Republican-dominated seats by storm. It's not like they're geniuses at politics either, so you really have to wonder at what your Labour party is doing wrong

It's not as good as it could've been, it's not as bad as feared.

Given that the vast majority of the previous UKIP vote will have moved to the Tories, having a net gain for Labour still isn't a disaster.

I don't have any answers for how we break away, though.

It's a poor result. Labour should be taking the tories to the fucking cleaners. Say what you like about Blair, he knew how to lead a political party. Our current government is way worse than even the tail-end of the Major regime, and current Labour couldn't even gain more MPs than them (compared to a >100 seat majority) and has failed to sweep them out of local government too.

Mildly amused that Malc didn't have a response to the page starter conversation so he's just ignored it and moved on
