    There, I said it.
    You're hardly the first.
But now I'm saying it in the strength of Leaver analysis.

Suspicion is that this is what Corbyn is banking on. Hard Brexit happens, [austerity intensifies 2.0], massive swing to Labour --------> Trotskyite government!

literately nothing in Corbyn's statements or previous behavior indicate he's a Trotskyist, he's at most a Democratic Socialist.

but really, let the tories get all the shit from brexit on them, smeared all over the place is just sensible real-politik.
    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

It is funny. First there's a leak of a civil service study that Brexit will cost the UK no matter what (non)option the Tories go for (debunking retarded Brexiteer claims). Tory Brexiteers smack down the civil service. Que second leak of a study it's even worse.

What the hell were the Moggies thinking would happen?

Meanwhile I can't think of an example of a more incompetent government for the UK than Theresa May's. Has there ever been one? Even John Major's doesn't even come close ... and that had Norman Lamont in it!

The problem for the Tories is that they're banking on keeping Corbyn out of government with threats that it will be terrible. Meanwhile Theresa May's government is soo fucking awful (on anything, really) that basically the worst that Corbyn could do would look massively competent in contrast. As with so many other things, they haven't really thought this one through ...

BTW, Corbyn is pretty left for the Labour party as a whole. Perhaps not Skinner left, but compared to the Blairites, certainly to the left of most of Labour, even right now. That doesn't make him a Trot, but compared to where Democratic Socialism is at, still a lefty.

There's been worse. The cabinet is a shambles, but one whose incompetence hasn't really spread to the wider economy/society yet. It was Cameron's cock-up that led to Brexit & most of the policies that attract our ire are longstanding Tory (& Labour) policies, not May's specifically. There's been no Suez, no Winter of Discontent, no Black Wednesday etc. It's bad enough to be perpetually embarrassing without yet being especially harmful. That may well change, but we're not there yet.

This line of thinking is fantasy, given the tories are still ahead in the polls. Labour's refusal to engage on brexit and seeming inability to focus on any one issue for longer than thirty seconds is what is holding it back.

He's at least as left wing as Skinner, and I'd argue at least a bit more so. They were both co-founders of the SCG (aka the "we need a more left-wing group because the current left-wing group isn't left-wing enough for us group") and their voting records are near equivalent. I'd probably argue if anything Corbyn is more "left-wing" than Skinner, because Skinner is a proper 11+ northerner who made it into politics via the mines. Corbyn is much more of the urban socialist ideologue type. This can probably be best evidenced in their voting records on things like constitutional reform and ID cards.

I find it really annoying when people on the other end of the political spectrum throw around titles as if they knew what they meant.

He's a trot. I don't mean it in a negative way, there's nothing wrong with it but he IS a trot.

The Major administration seems by comparison a utopian time of disciplined, effective government.
