Better to get our own shit sorted first though.. then you can start casting a critical gaze abroad.

Brexit is throwing the baby out with the bath water, whilst it's the decrepit house itself that is the more pressing problem.

Shame we gave up all our power to address them, isn't it? Because they're not going to stop being our problem too.

Sorry could only get through 2 minutes of John Oliver.

not a fan of his humor... at all.

And yes Malcanis its a shame if we do stay within its ruleset.

I don't think anyone voted leave really thought we'd go ahead and stay in a union of any sort tbh....

but here you go again anyway.... even though we covered this like 50 times.

don't think i'll bother replying so feel free to parrot after each-other amongst yourselves

    John Oliver isn't especially funny.

Bit of hyperbole, though I agree that the MPs in UK's parliament differ quite a lot from the population.

Then again: thinking of Trump, I'd rather not have the general public in charge either. But, instead of having lots of PPE, Law, and journalists in there, I wouldn't mind a lot more scientists, medics, and engineers elected to office.

I understand why they don't stand for it though ...

Actually, I don't remember the Leave campaign saying we'd leave the common market either. So while I don't know the minds of all leave voters at the time, the campaign was very much run on the notion of 'having your cake and eating it too'. I.e., getting at least all the benefits of staying within the common market, with all that we now know that entails.

In fact, I specifically remember especially Boris downplaying any hint of the UK severing economic and financial ties with the EU during the campaign.

Ofcourse, that too turned out to be a complete and utter lie and/or impossibility (as the EU was already pointing out well before the referendum).

MPs on the whole are fairly different from the population. MPs who are regularly in the national media and cabinet positions differ hugely from the population.

Ahahaha you actually think we're going to end up in a situation where EU rules don't affect us?

    You really seriously do?

Hey let's ask some Swiss forumers about how that works.
