Actually I'd be embarrassed to be at number one. Because those countries help tax evaders. Tbh. we should rank even a bit lower.
Financial secrecy is a weird metric to measure because accounting laws and practice are completely bizarre. Germany has lots of consolidated, big businesses which are considered opaque due to their size and resulting accounting practices across the entire organisation.

Accounting is full of fuckery in companies with publicly issued stock. A good recent example is how alphabet reports revenue streams with very little granularity.

That's not even the tip of the iceberg. Corporate finance is a fucking joke.

Makes it easy to #disrupt though

    Another one dead.

Are we still going to rattle on about a potential false flag operation?

    Really?

You're saying this like German corporates are a bastion of good governance.

The failure of good governance in this case rests solely on whose standards you are adhering to, society's or your shareholders.

The shareholders were pretty happy with the governance of the company when market share of diesels in America rose. The only problems for them came with getting caught.

'Good governance' is pretty dependent on which outcomes your want optimised.

Uhm, you're both saying the same? Our companies are as transparent as a black hole. That's pretty much common knowledge. Just look at the richest Germans. Their net worth is usually an estimate as nobody really knows, and most of them are reclusive so that not even wikipedia has pictures. Also among the top 5 are three connected to Aldi, Lidl and the mail order company Otto.

The super wealthy are a class unto themselves. They basically exist in their own little non-geographic sovereign bubble.

We did this last year. 1c and 2c gone. Everything rounded up or down to the nearest 5. It's pretty good.
