Ehm, no? I just had to look this up, it sounded too odd.

The CDC advises (HCP = healthcare personnel):
"In general, asymptomatic HCP who have had a higher-risk exposure do not require work restriction if they have received all COVID-19 vaccine doses, including booster dose, as recommended by CDC and do not develop symptoms or test positive for SARS-CoV-2."

There's also a nice little table with advice for different situations. In times of crisis healthcare personnel that tests positive but is asymptomatic or has mild symptoms can work. In times of contingency, these people would be restricted from work for 5 days. In conventional periods that is 7 - 10 days.

Hell yeah, people should thank anyone working+fully vaccinated in healthcare on a daily basis. Add any essential worker to that list, grocery workers, garbage collection, water+electricity, firefighters, police. Without them a functioning society would not exists.

I'm not in healthcare but even a little appreciation can go long ways. The other day i dropped a little basket with sweets+cookies at the ICU desk for the night shift.

Yep, current estimations for Germany is at the latest end of march. We may get herd immunity thanks to omicron and the Pandemic will be an Endemic.
