No, not really, because a cold is preventable - i.e. you fucking stay indoors, don't use public transport, facemasks, limit interaction with other people, so on and so forth. You can't control mosquitos and we don't know yet if that specific species is the only carrier. Potentially all mosquitos could carry that shit and trust me, from the knowledge I have about disease vectors, it looks quite grim. Imagine malaria still exists, even though its efforts for eradication are still immense. There is no vaccine, there is a treatment however, but when you have a virus that mimics a cold most of the times and it's from the same family as hepatitis C, you're looking at a disease with unkillable vectors that stealthily kills fetuses and a vaccine is impossible to obtain inside a good timeframe - think about the fact there is no vaccine for Hep C either and I doubt we'll ever see one.

It's why we don't see the same rate of the birth defect in Africa, while South American pregnant women are more likely to never have been infected.
