The first report I read on the Astra vaccinet was that the first dose hade 62% efficasy and 91% after the second. Did that change?

That was never the case. First combination had 62% efficiency. Second combination of dosages had 92%. They discovered the second one by accident. They are using the first one because there isnt enough data on the second one iirc.

I think there is going to be riots. From the restaurant ppl. Which will mean just a bunch of drunk loons doing really juvenile stuff.*
There were soooo many restaurants and bars posting across SM yesterday that finally we can do a bit better (close at 2200) and maybe survive.

Queue the gov going "LOL! Nope!" with zero heads-up. I dont disagree per say its the way its handled (from the start).

*nothing will happen obviously but I can hear the frustration vibrating through the snow for sure

    Same here.

The cause is pretty simple: I grew up without cell/smart phones. And I don't use my cell phone very much. It's my mobile ebook reader and the occasional phone call and navigation. That's about it. Anything else is better done at something with a real keyboard and screen (aka "PC").

Sometimes the boundary between technology and magic is basically invisible.

Turns out this is not that time.

Fun side note; My 73 year old mother is apparently more of a 'tech guy' then you...

or on android if the wifi doesn't have a qr code, but someone else in the room is connected on their phone, there's probably a share option in their wifi settings to generate a qr code for other people to use to join.

I went to lunch with a bunch of other IT nerds and it turned out none of us knew how to scan the code / hadn't scanned one in years. Up until covid it was pretty much a gimmick that I thought was dying out.

I was under the same impression but over the last year or two I've started to come around, done right its stupidly easy and quite handy.

Edit: A bunch of restaurant went outside and banged on pots and pans for 1 minute in response to Swedish gov messing up the message around the rules and timing.
Told you it would be some stupid shit.

Singapore has mandatory QR-code checkin in all buildings, shops, office etc etc since March or so. Going to the gym I first scan for the building and then the gym itself. This is on top of the bluetooth device tracing the app does.

You can imagine this has been a boon for crime investigations....

NZ still have a QR check-in for most places even though we've been out of lockdown since mid May.

This website has a fairly balanced item on it. In short, the mRNA based vaccines have side effects of fever and nausea that may be too much for the very elderly and frail. It is also possible that these very elderly people might have died regardless. The good news: these things are noticed, caught and immediately investigated. I say that with compassion for the loved ones of the people who passed away, btw.

To be fair, I have had similar side effects with several vaccines. I usually get some with the flu shot, which may or may not be explained by my egg allergy.* I remember well the truly impressive pain around the injection site with DTP (Diphteria, Tetanus, Polio) 10 years ago. I'm up for renewal with that one.. ugh.

*Fun fact, it was actually discovered when I was a baby long before I had egg - because of adverse (but not serious) reactions to vaccines.
