EVE's pretty much like the real world in these matters.
But there shouldn't be arbitrary rules preventing me from using the sandbox to try.
You think? Why? Because a few generations of players make that assumption? EVE's always had arbitrary rules, it never was an actual sandbox. CCP just figured out along the way that EVE grew because it became an emergent dynamic, which is something different. EVE has design roots in concepts derivative of the sandbox concept, that's all.

CCP has redefined its definition of emergent gameplay (closer to its traditional definition) so it isn't about a magical sandbox so that the old course of emergent dynamic is walled off. More predictable, more managable, less trauma, more dividends.

EVE once was about internet spaceships. Then those became serious business.
Now all that is left is serious business, and spaceships are docked for two years till after the Dust of Incarna

It turns out that saving ships is a much more effective way of trolling your enemies than killing them. Who knew?

"Ansiblex Jump Gates have a mass limit of 1.48 billion kg which allows every ship other than supercapitals to use the gate."

So the new JB network can NOT be used by supercaps and titans.

    Good.

Red Alliance have dumpstered their sov in Period Basis because Goons told them to get off their lawn for various anti-Test proxy support/they want more land and also Red Alliance/Red Menace Coalition are moving to Curse after years of growing stagnant there.

Dammit guys, you broke the silence streak. I wanted to see if we could get EVE General to 4 weeks of no new posts!

Red Alliance can't be killed. The last 16 years of history pretty much proves that.

Surprisingly this Test vs Horde wannabe invasion has revived PL a bit.

Was it a tale of a few highly skilled pilots overcoming the odds and totally destroying a much larger and heavier equipped force through skill and dedication, and not for any internet spaceship political games (lol) but for gudfites and honouré?

    If yes, continue

It was a chaotic 4 or 5 way cluster fuck brawl with only moderate lag. that lasted for an hour or so and many boats were violences. But mine survived and i got to shoot things with 1400mm arty. So op success

And I just sit in Empire building assets so if I ever do get time enough in my life I will be able to truly "fly it like I stole it".

So I'll see you guys in 18 years then.

A critical exception has occurred. The exception is FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

The hottest thing recently is hisec (yes, really).

The big fights have been about bashing the cheapest doctrine (feroxes) into each other and buying out jita market while we fight literally next door.

    Much gameplay, so wow. :thonk:

    Shit is cancer.

Biggest lie CCP successfully sold to EVE players: the sandbox. I was there, etc.

Though, to be fair to the EVE players: for the longest time CCP bought into it even harder. It was only when it bit them in the arse that they started to put the constraints in.

What it's like now, I don't know. The trajectory didn't look too good last time I bothered to look.

Is there another serious spaceships game out there that actually does have a sandbox where it matters? Asking for a friend ...
