Here's an idea. Instead of making PD the only defense type that goes in a weapon, make it a defense module.

Playing Synthetic Dawn last night, seems good so far and I like a lot of the new UI changes and other little quality of life improvements around the game. Unfortunately it broke most mods (not surprising) but having to manually explore is so tedious... dunno why you have to fucking research a tech first to do that...
If exploration was automatic there would be nothing to do for 100 odd years.

There's loads to do, colonise planets, build pops, vassalise your small neighbour etc...

Because clicking Survey System, Survey System, Survey System is such engaging next gen gameplay.

Nah, to be truly next-gen they'd need to implement Paradox Gems in a shop, and charge you 1gem/survey.

Please don't give EA any ideas, the Dungeon Keeper reboot was bad enough.

You get auto-explore much much earlier now though. I started a game last night and had it show up as an option in like the first 6 or 7 techs researched.

How much do you really need to prioritize surveys when all unexplored systems are 8-10 jumps away from your border?

By then you should either know which way you want to colonise (and focus that direction to find planets to do it to) or have autoexplore. Mod it yourself if you people are so salty.

Same, but queuing up 20 surveys after a run round with a corvette to check hostiles saves a lot of clicking overall.

    I've tried - 150k of fleet (70k plus 70k federation fleet)

it knocked 10k off their stack but that was it :/

gunna have to spend ages rebuilding now as the game slows down so much at late game with 1000 systems
