Which DLC do you need to get that?
Utopia (with Federations) I bet, since Utopia added megastructures.
    Wrong.

Do ring worlds come without Utopia?

(they probably do because DLCs are little more than a checkmark in asset list)

Ring worlds came with Utopia. Origins are more than just starting on a tomb world, gaia planet, voidborne.

The Commonwealth of Man now always gets another advanced human empire with Sol for example.

Check that list. It's extensive and provides some serious challenges (Doomsday).

Federations introduced origins, but Utopia added megastructures, so I'd wager for that particular origin you need Utopia.

Ah, yeah, for both origin and ringworld you'd probably need both.

But who doesn't have the previous DLCs already? They are on sale so often...

I got the game a few days ago and am just completing my first ironman playthrough on default settings. It was much too easy, basically just a lot of war-grind. What are fun settings?

I'd start with more regular AI, 2x tech/tradition cost and 0.5x habitable worlds.
0.75x hyperlanes seems very wonky in vanilla but gateways and wormholes on 0.5x is good.
Crises could be moved by 25 and 50 years respectively.

But at the end of the day vanilla is a snoozefest no matter how you play it imo.

Back when empire cohesion was a thing, I liked to play with full hyperlane density. Nowadays, I roll 2.5x gateways and wormholes, 2x hyperlanes, 0.5x inhabitable planets, 5x primitive civilizations, 1 guaranteed habitable world.

Some of the origins don't require anything extra. Others require you to have the corresponding DLC

Prosperous unification, Galactic Doorstep, Lost Colony - Free
Mechanist, Syncretic Evolution, Tree of Life - Utopia
    Life-seeded & Post apocalyptic - Apocalypse
    Remnants - Ancient Relics
Shattered Ring, Void Dwellers, Scion, On the Shoulders of Giants, Common Ground, Hegemon, Doomsday - Federations
    Calamitous Birth - Lithoids
    Resource Consolidation - Synthetic Dawn

One thing I highly suggest is playing on smaller galaxies, as larger galaxies will end up grind fests. Also as other have suggested, less habitable worlds, and more primitives spice things ups a bit.

I have Leviathans, Utopia, and Synthetic Dawn. Guess I'll have to buy Federations to get those sweet new Origins.

Next on the list is a calamitous birth run. Food is overrated anyway

I know it's just an aesthetic thing, but it really bothers me that this kind of lazy-looking spawning still happens in vanilla.

Precursors that aren't Zroni/Grunur don't seem to have this issue as much.

I didn't see a spreadsheet of what everyone has, so I made one:

PM or post if you want to be included.
