    Fellow Mercs,
    CCP Rattati here to bring you news of one the most anticipated features of DUST 514 - Player Trading, coming to you later this month. Yes, we have finally reached this milestone, bringing us a step closer to our vision.

    We wanted to unlock the potential of trading as soon as we could, so we have implemented it in the simplest form. Simply add other mercs as Contacts, and then send them an item or items. They will then (hopefully) send you ISK in return. Yes, it is a trust-based economy, and there will be some underhanded scamming, for sure. These are cold-blooded mercenaries you are dealing with.
    We expect trusted merchants to start offering their services, which is a fascinating subject in and of its own, and we will be adding a Player Trading section to the DUST 514 forums for you all to make and discuss your trades.

    We also see this as a huge opportunity for Corporation Logistics Officers to start collecting and re-distributing Officer and Experimental Gear from their Corporation Members for Planetary Conquest battles, as most mercs have gear that they can’t or won’t use but others certainly can. This kind of optimization may certainly tip the scale in favor of those that put in the necessary work.
    Once this feature is released, mercenaries will finally be able to trade their earned Officer Gear, become middle men for Loyalty Store gear, and swap Experimental Gear with each other and any other ISK gear bought on the marketplace or salvaged from battles.

    To prevent alt-farming and other exploitative behavior, we will be limiting all trades to mercenaries with Loyalty Rank 4 or higher. Loyalty Ranks can be earned easily through normal gameplay such as logging in, fighting and winning battles, and earning War Points, but doing so with multiple alt-accounts should prove exhausting and virtually impossible.
    When we are satisfied that there are no bugs/exploits, we certainly plan on allowing trades of all items, such as boosters and BPO’s, allowing players to earn any aspect of DUST 514 offerings through gameplay, much like the PLEX system in EVE Online.

    No joke.

    At least Dust will get to be a test-bed for Legion concerning "shit that should be in the game from the beginning."


    The UI looks like you will only be able to trade one item type at a time, and can't demand a trade in return. "Trust" system indeed. Also, tedious.

    It'd not even trade, it's just give. A trade min spec would be item for isk, accept / reject.

    Hasn't there been zero communication on Legion since the month following last year's Fanfest? Sounds like what they should have been doing in the first place.

    They might have a had a rethink about keeping Legion in unreal 3 engine.

    Yes, i have always thought that fighters should be vulnerable to tackle. Fuck it, they should generate kms too. That would really cause some wailing.

    Perhaps they'll roll off some Valkyrie devs onto Legion once they get good at UE4.
