I'm pretty sure I know which set of comrades I'd want with me, if I was, like, defending Stalingrad and stuff.

Russia says Syrian 'chemical attack' was staged

      Spoiler:

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said a reported chemical attack in Syria was staged by foreign agents.

A spokesman for Russia's defence ministry accused the UK of being involved in staging the attack.

The US and France say they have proof it took place and, alongside the UK, are considering military retaliation.

Russia, which has military forces deployed in Syria in support of the government, has warned that Western air strikes risk starting a war.

During a press briefing on Friday, Mr Lavrov said he had "irrefutable evidence" that the attack was staged as part of a "Russophobic campaign" led by one country, which he did not name.

Four RAF fighters bomb Syria "chemical weapon stockpile"

The UK has begun air strikes against Syrian chemical weapons sites.

Prime Minister Theresa May said there was "no practicable alternative to the use of force" to deter the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime.
US and allies launch strikes on Syria chemical weapons sites

The US, UK and France have bombed multiple government targets in Syria in an early morning operation targeting alleged chemical weapons sites.

The strikes are in response to a suspected chemical attack on the Syrian town of Douma last week.

"A combined operation with the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom is now underway," President Trump said in an address to the nation.

Explosions were reported near the Syrian capital Damascus.

i actually don't give a shit that we/fr/us did this. there's pretty overwhelming evidence that chemical weapons were used, and that's been until recently a pretty global 'don't do this' since WW1

seems it was pretty limited, no real casualties just infrastructure damage.

If the Russians complain too loudly, US/UK/FR can just deny it ever happened.
Any evidence was probably staged by Russian infiltrators anyway as part of an imperialist plot to destabilise the region.

From where I sit, it certainly looks like Russia's credibility just took a major nose-dive. Russia threatened to shoot down American missiles and attack the launching platforms, but when push came to shove, Russia didn't do jack shit.

I understand that their decision to not to take action in response to the Allied air and missile strikes was the prudent one. But by making threats like that and then failing to follow through, the Russians just made themselves look impotent and weak.

If they did nothing about it you'd probably taunt them for being pussies for not keeping their word to retaliate against things like this. Honestly if you're accepting the Russian version of events I have to question your intelligence.
