Thank god the Terran Ships don't look like complete ass anymore, I always liked them the most mechanically but hated the asthetic.

it get's worse, the guys behind this are the same that did HW:Cataclysm so you know they know exactly how to do it too. I never got into sword of the stars one because of bad menu's and terrible voice overs even tough the game itself was quite good, just couldn't spend a lot of time with it.

If you haven't tried the game with latest patch + all expansions then you should re-evaluate it. They really fixed a lot of the minor annoyances and added good content.Originally Posted by pratell

And don't say GalCivII, I absolutely loathe ship design in that game.
SoTS with full expansions is a pretty decent game to be honest. I did not care for the original at all, but I saw the complete pack on impulse for like $15 and picked it up for the hell of it. The game is incredibly deep and the AI can put up a better challenge than most 4X games AI will. I'm optimistic about the second if they can fix all the little annoying bits that SoTS had while simplifying some of the more annoying game mechanics (freighter management needs to DIAF) to streamline play. The video definitely looks like an alpha build; the ship texturing and lighting is vastly more polished than the laughably low resolution textures used on the planets.
:shrug: If we are lucky, they improve the game and fix the annoying bits while offering an improved engine that can actually like, use shaders and physics. That would be a good space 4X game for years if it plays out as such.
