Dock undock how ship make move.
Also once you can afford better fsd, toggle safe route to fastest route on the journey planner

Did you get the Horizon's season pass? If so you can multi crew with me and make some money way quicker than trudging through the starter ships
Fucked about a bit, and I do like it, it really brings the feels in the way it evokes the Elite I used to run on my ol' 48k spectrum, but I haven't had the stamina to get to grips with it properly, what with one thing an another going on in my life. Gonna pick it up more seriously after I visit family and get a few things sorted out.
I was one of the original Kickstarters for this but never got into it until recently. I look at my map and see little red markers for stored ships but I'm still in my starting Cobra MkIII (Kickstarter alternate start).
I see an Imp Eagle, a vanilla Eagle, & 2 Viper Mk IVs scattered around the bubble. Anyone know where they came from? I can apparently get into them or have them shipped to my location so they seem to be mine.
Also, I bought a skin at 5pm yesterday but it's now nearly midday & it hasn't shown up in-game yet, should I be worried yet?
You probably got a starter pack as a Kickstarter reward with a bunch of small ships. Viper is fun to fly!
They gave out some free ships a while back for people holding various preorders.
As usual, if you want a helping hand getting your feet wet give me a poke on discord

The Galaxy is a big place. You'll rarely run into other players outside of real popular hubs like ceos/sothis, community goals, or power play hot spots. There is also the wing finder you can use to find other players looking to wing up and do various activities

The original version of Elite from 1984 is free today on Frontier's website.
I picked up Horizons a few days ago, as it was on sale and I wanted to experience more content before heading out into the black. I still haven't figured out how to find Lagrange clouds and non-Thargoid space life.
You want your scanner to show a blip at the "Notable Phenomena" bit (to the left of belts and planets). Then if you find it it'll show up in the body list on your left and you can navigate to it.
Also, it really matters where you are in the universe, their positions aren't evenly spread out. Some bits of the universe have absolutely nothing and I'm currently in a bit (way to the east) where you basically have one (or two or three) every 2nd or 3rd jump. And they're all peduncles over here. I've stopped going to them a while back. Hoping to find some different types when I resume my journey home in a month or so.
Which part of the east are you in? most of it is No Permit zoned past the Orion nebula.
Also just throwing this out as a general tip, but if you want to get the most bang for your buck while doing exploration, get your self the ED-Discovery application. Its got an estimated value tab that will give you a good indication of what planets are worth mapping. It'll start out with the base honk value, then update when you do the DSS, and then again when you surface scan which will give you roughly your turn in value. But the base honk value/DSS gives you a really good starting point on what's worth scanning, as sometimes even shitty planet/moons may actually have geolgical/biological hotspots.
Still travelling back from DW2 through the Sagittarius-Carina arm. Currently in the north end of the Centaurus Reach region, see here for a map.
Is there anything like chat channels or anything in game? last time i played it felt like I was the only one online in a mmo.
You've always had local, which is often empty. Since a couple of months you also have guilds in the game now, so yes you can chat with your mates.
Honestly having Discord or something on a second monitor has always been the better option. There are a ton of good and active Elite discords.
I joined a squad, its mostly US TZ but they seem reasonably active. its difficult to find a group really beyond a few adverts on different clan advert websites.
You can use Squad chat, wing chat, local chat in game. as well as direct chat
you get a history of other players you have encoutered too, so its easy to communicate that way, and other player ships appear as hollow squares or triangles rather than solid on the DRADIS™
