Local Recording & U!
So there are a bunch of different programs to record Eve with. Fraps, MSI Afterburner, OBS, Nvidia Shadowplay and more.
If you already have a program and it's working for you, just use that. If not, read on.
Local Recording with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
DOWNLOAD it here.
OBS is built for streaming, but also does a good job for local recording with minimal resources and small files. However it does take 10 minutes to set up.
Source:
After installation you need to add a source to the scene. Just rightclick the space and add a "Game Capture" source. Select eve in the drop down menu, it needs to be running for this. Capture mouse cursor should be checked. Hit [OK]
Settings:
Go to encoding.
- Use CBR [ ] should be unchecked!
- Quality Balance: [10]
- Use Custom Buffer Size [x] and set it to 0 <-- Important!
- Max Bitrate: 1000
Go to Broadcast Settings:
Mode: File Output Only and select a File Path. Set a hotkey for recording and stop recording. I suggest F9.
Audio settings:
Here you can choose an Microphone device if you want to record your own audio. I set Push-to-talk to the same hotkey as in TS.
Advanced:
[x] Custom x264 Ecoder Settings: crf=15
On modern Computers, just leave x264 CPU preset on default setting. Now you can try if this works for you. With my 6 year old CPU i needed to set the x264 CPU Preset to ultrafast (Warning, will genereate big'ish files) otherwise it recoding was laggy and missed frames.
PS: I'm not an expert on encoding, so if you have suggestion feel free to comment
