Too bad they still lost :^)
    Did they?

Looks to me like the far left has solidified their internal control of the party, positioned themselves excellently for the next election and avoided being held responsible for the hot mess that is Brexit.

Two years ago the far left was a joke. Now I can easily see them dominating politics for a decade after the Tories finish committing suicide.
They are still a joke though
    Well yes. They are politicians.

If Labour was strongly anti-Brexit in the last election I think they would have won

Doubt it. They might have picked up some more votes and made a few more marginals but it would potentially have been at the cost of core seats in the North.

Also there's potential incompatibility with EU rules and implementing their programme.

What core seats in the North were closer than the difference between brexit and bremain votes?

Nothing is really incompatible, and the EU would bend over backwards to avert Brexit and thumb the Brexiteers in the eye.

There's quite a few long-time Labour seats in northern towns that were lost or saw their majorities squeezed this year, and they need to hold onto those seats.

Also, the Lib Dems ran on an anti-brexit ticket and did worse than ever. Going down that route would not have been productive.

There is no evidence that "a strong anti-Brexit" position would have boosted Labour votes and/or the overall number of seats achieved in the election.

Because a small clique of corporates and their execs are siphoning all the money off for themselves.

So you'd rather have a small clique of activists and their politburo siphoning it all for themselves instead?
