Fuck me. Played my first game of New Necromunda on TTS last night:

Escher vs Escher starter gang mirror. Fuck my opponent was conservative. We spent the entire game in 18-24" and basically nothing died: he did absolutely nothing to win the game, just spent the entire time waiting for me to lose it (which I did because I had to get to bed, so bottled after taking out on of his Gangers). So dissimilar to Infinity: the way he was playing, I'd have pushed buttons and sniped his AROs.

Also, wow people build annoying maps. Lots of really 'cool' gribly bits whereas what we really needed was a classic card/MDF table with stacked crate scatter so that LOF is clear and movement is easy. Fuck 'pretty and interesting' for 'clean and playable' any day of the week.

Worst part though was the cover. It was basically 'lots of cover for deployment, dead ground, lots of cover in the middle, dead ground, lots of cover for deployment' so no real ability to push a flank without getting caught getting in the open.

Overall enjoyed though. There were a few 'oh fuck yeah, nah that's Infinity' moments but overall the core is solid.

Anybody interested in a game later? Part of a YakTribe online Campaign?

I'll post pics of my Escher + Miranda Chimera later.

7 from my local (H.A.T.E) club went out for the year's first infinity tournament on Saturday and generally had a great time and did really well out of the tournament.
I was leading the tourney until my last turn (2 major victories, with just under 600VPs) but forgot abotu a wall, so instead of an Avatar in suppression, covering half the board, we had an avatar in suppression behind a wall, able to see dick all. a 6-0 win became a 5-3 loss so ended up 3rd.

it's the highest i've ever placed in a proper tournament against some stiff competition and in general am pretty happy with how it all panned out.

Game one highlight was deleting a HiSen HMG dude with my Avatar in one order, before demolishing a Bao link in ARO through his MSV. The dude came back hard (ish) in turn 2 but got too carried away trying to KHD a EVO hacker through breakwater (tip: don't bother) and ran out of orders and ended up tabled.

Game 2 was a collossal fuckup by my opponent. Running a WARCRIME list of 8 Gakis, 4 Daturazi, CHarontis MSV HMG and a bunch of specialists, my lovely opponent TOTALLY FORGOT Daturazi HAVE SMOKE. Lined up his link and bots to gun down the gakis then lost 6 units in turn 1 to smoke shooting from the Charontid. Killing his Sphinx with 2 Gakis in CC was a memorable highlight too

Game 3 went great. Good dice running the same Avatar list that brutalised ISS vs a 10 order Aleph list who never seemed to have more than 5 orders around, but was super efficient with everything and just scraped it thanks to my stupidity. He admitted to being surprised to have won at the end

All in all a top day out. War of the Worlds events are cracking if you get the chance to attend one.
Please don't teach me what to do with my pc.

Yeah, so the way to avoid Breakwater from a EVO is to draw the ARO and then Redrum.

    Ie you Idle without Stealth,
They ARO (Breakwater isn't valid so they're pretty much limited to Brainblast),
    You Redrum.

Breakwater is only valid if you've already been targetted by a hacking attack.

This was discussed at length and consensus was this is incorrect - though it's infinity so i'm now not sure.
At the time we agreed you can speculatively declare any ARO you chose. but lose it if it becomes invalid. So if a KHD idles in your hacking area, you declare breakwater. It then shotguns you in the face, you lose the ARO.
Looking around though, this may not be the case.
    hooray for grey areas.

    Ah edit edit: http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/t...o-declaration/
    derp i r wrong \o/
luckily the opponent didn't move without stealth but maybe i should have had to brainblast. sorry

The requirements of a declaration are checked at the moment of declaration not at Resolution.

It's weird and it breaks the 'everything is simultaneous' but it's the rules.I had a significant argument about it when I first started playing.

The result is that the consensus is that Shield programmes are basically broken.

You are of course entirely correct.

I forgot about the whole mine/shotgun bullshit you can do with a "do you set the mine off - yes you are in 8" so eat a shotgun aro" fuckwittery this encourages.
    my way is better

well it's not a good tournament result unless you find out later you bullshitted your opponent and feel guilty. though it wouldn't have made much difference at that point. 1 extra order for him vs 1 less for me. Derp tho.

Nah, turning off Stealth is how it's normally played. Particularly in a tournament where your opponent should be on the ball. In a tournament I let my opponents gotcha themselves with their own Stealth.

    "I move"
    "I don't have any AROs"
    "I do x"
    "OK. All-the-hacking-AROs."
    "oh... Fuck."
"that was your Lt I just Isolated, right?"

But ZOC AROs are weird because unlike LOF AROs they're not open information.

First Turf War of the Yaktribe Tabletop Simulator is winding down. I'm in second place for Gang Rating but miles behind on Reputation so won't be fighting it out to be Overlord.

There's a couple of reliable players in US/UK TZs but only me in Oceanic.

We're starting the second Turf War on Monday. Details here https://yaktribe.games/community/thr...4/#post-133690

Overall new Necromunda is hideously imbalanced but really quite fun. It's got the old Necromunda feel to it. Worth checking out; and TTS gives you the opportunity to play with ideas before you nail them down as models (where you get crueled by the WYSIWYG rules).
