Honestly the jargon and spreadsheets are on the same level as EVE. Slightly more gradual learning curve though.

Hmm. The Learning curve does remind me of Eve.

Tutorials == Tutorials. Start off thinking Crikey this is cool - ok, new rules dripped in - cool. i got this.
150pt NoHackign game = belting in highsec / running missions blah blah. Complex but manageable.

Then you go though a Lowsec gate == early 300pt games. Then you have the tournament scene of nullsec

Honestly I think Iniative should choose deployment order AND turn order.
Player agency is too big a thing in Infinity for this to really work IMO. If the opponent chooses side B and 'deploy second'; then the WIP roll loser still has some agency to control rather than a "1 dice to win it all" scenario. Losing the roll then putting your opponent into a possibly super-strong possibly weaker if you play your cards right position adds a bit t the game i feel.

The problem is the missions being written so going 2nd is a legitimate choice for some of them.

That's kinda my point: choosing Table Edge or Turn Order (which is also deployment order) makes it fairer. Rather than umm I choose to make you deploy first (so you usually choose to go first) AND get to pick deployment side.

It'd make 'I choose second' a legit choice; but would give up the choice for table edge.

Yeah, I agree. Was a bit of a tounge in cheek comment from me. On the other hand if deployment order was flipped people would need to remember to make boards are uneven so it makes table edge still a valuable choice.

I like the way it's set up now. Even if you rig the board for your army and win the Roll, you can still get the shit end of the stick either trying to be clever or flat-out shot.
It adds chaos and variety to a game that thrives on variety and chaos.

im trying for a John blache style but with a very muted limted palette for the marines my cultists are all over the places with greens, reds, browns, yellows.

Whilst working on more than one model this weekend I noticed I assembled parts of the Hurricane wrong.

    With the manual opened.

    Ikr.

So basically the morons who made the manual didn't actually write wtf is happening there. So I mounted the exhausts on a support (the way you'd do if you'd have the bonnet closed thus no engine inside) whilst at the same time assembling the V12. The only issue is I have now to take apart the exhausts from the support I mounted them on and stick them on the engine.

Who was the genius who thought putting a question mark next to stuff would be understandable as "this is an alternate way of mounting shit".

    FML.

Will proceed and construct a hybrid -> basically with the engine in, but slightly exposed. Will probably swear 15 minutes without repeating myself whilst trying to recuperate the exhausts from where I stuck them momentarily.

    Wish me luck.

Oh and I'm 90% done with a model of a Skyline GT-R R32 from Tamiya. Shit kit tbh, had to manually adjust parts like crazy. Whoever thought that the wheel mounts need a spacer that's not properly glueable without any guidelines whatsoever but needs to be perfectly aligned or else the wheel won't be able to be put in place is a monumental dumbass.

Guns make the news, science doesn't.
    Six shooters ruined PvP.

Well I just had to cancel my place at the UK Infinity Masters tournament thanks to my car failing it's MOT and the following £300 bill to get it back on the road. Guess I won't be getting the few bits I need to 'finish' my Kings of War Undead army.

In other news the new ITS pack is causing a bit of a shit storm with the Soldiers of Fortune add on. Mainly people freaking out that PanO can take smoke chuckers, which isn't even that bad considering most factions have some way of doing that dirty trick. Don't think they realise its an optional extra and probably won't see that much use. To be fair I am more exciting that SoF allows PanO to take a Kaplan Engineer with ADHL. PanO really need a 2nd engineer profile, with the new mission that just gives models ADHL for free and the objective is to immobilise people I feel having a shitty AVA-1 engineer is just grating.

Our meta has collectively shrugged at PanO with smoke. Honestly they were probably winning most of those exchanges anyway.

We see Joan + 4 YY + 2 Warcors as a bigger issue. You can still fit a Kaplan Engineer after that if you want (and a SMG Bashi).

If you use the add on for fun NP, but it's hardly balanced. Added to the mission redesign and TAG buff tis the Season for PanO.

Oh yeah, Joan + cheap irregular mercs is much much more insane, but the community at large for some reason collectively shat themselves at smoke in PanO. If I ever go to a SoF tournament I will for sure be taking at least 3 Yuan Yuan (2x Fat + Red Veil preorder). I would have to either open my 2nd Fat Yuan Yuan box for a 4th one or buy some of the classic ones. The disadvantage is going full HAM on cheap irregular mercs means you run the risk of getting Joan sniped and now half your army is irregular. Honestly would be fearful of a Oniwaban/Speculo/Fiday assination attempt if I was up against Yu Jing/Combined/Haqq. I am actually quite tempted to take a Guard de Assaulto for the eclipse smoke launcher just to troll the increased amount of MSV2 since its flavour of the month.

If I remember correctly the only other army to get Inspiring Leadership is Ariadna/Caledonia with Wallace. Only thing is they already get a 6 point regular orders so they simply don't care.

The Northern Open TOs all agreed its just the Spec Ops option on steroids. Having a spec ops basically just fill gaps in factions but SoF does it even more. Doubt we will ever use it unless one of the TOs gets his and we go full retard on a Direct Action + SoF tournament. I hope we don't.

There's a Spec Ops + SoF tournie happening near me soon. Collectively the response has been groans from the non-PanO players, squees of glee from the players who main PanO and resigned sighs from those who have a access to enough PanO to build a competent list.

Our resident Cha player is also happy, but mainly due to Avi in Ariadna.

As a Bakunin player it's basically Saito who's different from what I have available normally. If I want to pay 1SWC for AD I already have Meteors.

listbuilding is such a pain in the ass some times. Playing a important league game vs Bakunin tomorrow which should be straightforward but: With the TAG buffs i really want an HRL Overdron for in there, BUT he's likely to have an asston of ODD so i need a charontid not a Anathmatic - BUT i prefer the anathmatic these days 'cos they are cooler and fill a specalist role unlike the MSV3 Charontid, necesitating an extra piece. Not bringing any MSV is a bit silly unless you bring a masssive High BS figure or two but relying on the charontid as a key piece is daft as it's so easily shut down via repeater/white noise shenanigans.... ok next: The overdron is situationally overcosted as he's unlikely to have any MSV himself to neuter with albedo - so if he's unlikely to have MSV and the anathmatic is out - why not just bring flamer bots and a fucking Avatar, Exile his links, set them on fire, shoot through any remaining ODD bullshit and Sepiestorize what's left.

    Ok lets do that.
