A couple of ancient airfix kits I've put together recently. The Typhoon was first released in 1958 and it ain't half bad considering its over half a century old.

ZY-G flew ground attack from Britain into France before D-Day, flew close air support on D-Day and afterwards and was shot down in Dec 1944.

    very nice.

I've been thinking about painting up some figures and dropping them on Ebay to sell - nothing hardcore, just painting stuff up and selling it on for a little profit
thing is... I can't find that much painted stuff on Ebay - did they stop it for some legal reason? anyone aware of this?

the figures will be painted to good gaming standard so I won't be going for megamoney

EDIT: HS, I don't go scouring eBay often (and not for painted miniatures, at that) but I have noticed in my travels that there are quite a few on-line services around where you can commission miniatures to be painted to your instruction. That may be having an impact on pre-painted services on eBay. I always envisioned eBay as more of a dumping ground.

I ask as I've just stumbled over a brief article about it and it set my mind-wheels turning again.
Quoting myself for self-aggrandizement to give context to ~ this ~ recent article on hackaday pondering the implications of 3D printing of war-gaming miniatures (and, well, everything) and intellectual property, which itself stems from ~ this ~ article on Wired which raises the issue of the properties of patent law v.s. copyright.

It sells very well, if you pick the right games. Some of my completed sales:

If you go through my history of feedback, I've made several £thousand in the last year or so by painting and reselling. It's just about painting the right shit.

    1) AVOID GW STUFF. Too much competition, and base price is so high hard to get good margin
    2) Don't get too involved in the models. Paint them to a good standard, quickly, then move on.
    3) Don't undervalue your stuff. If you look at my listings, they seem expensive, but they always sell very well. Demand is HIGH right now.

For reference, those first 2 (SAGA Warbands) that sold for £77ish were £20 or less for the models, and took a few days each to paint.

Game is very, very good, if hard to learn due to poor English in the rulebooks (the company is Spanish). Very easy to pick up if somebody shows you though, or there are a great series of videos on youtube.

The models? The models are probably the absolute best miniatures of any game in existence right now. They are simply unbelievably good. They are realtiscally proportioned unlike stuff like GW or Privateer Press, so they feel a lot less bulky, but they are just amazing. They are actually so good they can be quite intimidating to paint, but that comes to one of the best things about the game....

Average game size is a dozen or less models per side. Sometimes a LOT less, depending on what you take. This means you can really go nuts with putting effort into every model.

The only downside to playing the game is that it needs a lot of terrain. A LOT. Look at the town where you live, with buildings, walls, hedges, trees, cars, hills, alleyways, multi-storey buildings.... That much terrain. Normally iy's played on a 4x4 board though, rather than a 6x4 which is normal for 40K etc, so it's not THAT bad, but you do need it to be very dense.

Overall, I absolutely love the game.

Finished assembling my Ilse of blood HEs last night. They were a pure joy to work with. Everything slotted in perfectly, just some minor GS used and I must say they all look really damn good. Comparing this to the crappy mawrines starter thing - this is awesome. Loads of details, one-off models and what not.

Pure joy. Sadly I can't spray them as it's raining / 100% humidity outside. :<

I've also heard it'll be Dark Angels and Chaos with a hunt for the fallen theme. Power armour extravaganza! I won't personally be buying the new ruleset or boxed set though. I hopped on a train earlier today and went out to a privateer press tournament. I had a great chat with one of their reps who let me check out some of their stuff and was pleasantly surprised that he was reassuring me about what I didn't need to buy to get started in the hordes/warmachine hobby rather than pressuring me into sales. I picked up some circle orboros stuff and am a hordes/warmachine man now.

I really like the models and will post some picks of them once i've slapped some paint on.

There's a real feeling of discontent about GW at my local club at the moment. The price rise is going through and the total information black out on the new rules has left everyone very concerned that they're going to have spend a couple hundred more on their already very expensive collections in order to make them in tune with VIth edition. I stopped by my local club at my independent store after I got back on the train this afternoon and passed on the details for privateer press to the store owner and asked her to see if she could get any supplies in. 4 other guys have also said they'll pick up a starter box to give the game a go next week. VIth doesn't go on pre-order until the 23rd. That should be plenty of time for me to brainwash everyone into jumping ship.
If you ignore the rules people will, half the time, quietly rewrite them so they don't apply to you.
