Got a 40k tournament in a few weeks which is prompting me to finish painting my army. I'm not sure if I should continue my previous tournament experience and turn up with less points than I should have (attended conflict or gauntlet or something with 800pts rather than 1k and had a really good time) but I think playing with a full 1500pts of salamanders could be good, especially with converted vulkan. I'm 99% certain I won't win most games anyway as its been at least 18 months since I played.

im not that blown away by the figures or the rocket launchers but they are pretty small i guess. the infantry are quite characterful and i think the rockets will look better when painted. these are battlefront minis and are handsculpted.

the panzer 2's and pz38t's are the russian zvedza ones and they were about 2.50 a kit - the pz38t's are really nice and the panzer 2's arent too bad. the panzer 2's are 2010 sculpts and the others 2011 so at least they are improving B) i think these are done as a 3d model and are very minimalist - 5 and 6 pieces for the kits respectively.

The panzer 4's are the plastic soldier company kits which are definitely done as 3d models and these have loads of bits and take a bit of time to put together. they are really nice and with the rest of the force look good - they do dwarf the other stuff a little bit.

the marders are forged in battle ones which are handsculpted resin and metal models - these are really nice and the lines are a lot cleaner than the bf ones. the crew models look good as well - will do some close ups later

ive heard people say get battlefront for your infantry and anyone else for anything else (mainly because of price) but i do really like the 3d modelled tanks - they are made up of hard straight lines so perfectly suited to this method.

Those kits do look rather nice Filingo. Hopefully I'll be able to steer my club towards something other than just playing Late War someday.

Does anyone play Malifaux? Some of the models look pretty good. It seems to me to be similar to Mordheim in style and setting. I wouldn't mind getting into some of these none-GW games if only I knew any single person who played them

Malifaux is great. It's not that much like Mordheim in either style or setting though (though there are similarities).
    It's style is.....mental.

Basically, alternate reality Victorian steampunk, in a nightmare dreamworld, crossed with a Western, with redneck Gremlins.
Probably the closest I can get!

The game itself is very enjoyable. There's no dice, everything is done via cards, and it adds a certain level of resource management and planning to it.

welp Koll, you suck. I'm super broke and now want nothing more than to start an Ogre Kingdoms army. I've got a 1500 point list meted out, now just have to wait a few more paychecks before I am able to start fleshing it out. Thankfully I still have a ton of models from the Christmas sale at my local shop to work on.

    Those are some beautiful minis.
it's lucky for me that noone around here plays that game or I'd have to invest in a gang or two.
The Ronin for example. mmm. Do want.

Two pathfinder Tetras arrived in the mail today, so happy
So whenever I'm done with my uni paper I can start painting, then assembling them. Usually doing it the other way round and I guess this is a good time as any to kick that bad, bad habbit of mine.
With a cheap and reliable source of markerlights my Tau should be at least somewhat back up to snuff.

Fake edit: Looks like my calculations were indeed correct. If I drop some of my (still theretical) Manta's first floor infantry transport capacity the speeders should not only fit inside, but also be able to leave through the rear doors, god bless minor wargaming OCD.

Interior detail on the B-17 I've spent the last two months slowly putting together. Just about ready to have the fuselage halves stuck together and all that will never be seen again.

That always bothered me when i used to build model planes.
You put all that effort into making hte interior look good. and then you seal it up so noone will ever see it again.

I think at least for the flying fortress there is a kit with the hull made from clear plastic so you can see inside, the old monogram 1:48 kit that is now sold in revel brand. I have been thinking of getting one such kit + bunch of nice eduard PE sets, but will probably instead fulfill my big model cravings by getting the 1:72 VIIC u-boat + the resin interior sets from Czech masters.

Well that one is the new Revell 1:72 B-17G and it is an amazing kit, easily the most detailed kit in that scale I've ever done. Very very nice kit. Had a look at some of the etch for it but honestly I didn't think it was worth it over the detail already in it, especially when you wont see it I did up the interior since I'll know that its been done and if I don't the planes get built way too fast.

For very large models, Revell is re-releasing the 1:72 Matchbox Flower Class corvette later this year so I think I'm going to get that and stick RC stuff in it to play about on the lake near my place. Its almost a metre long.

Got another squad of Firewarriors done yesterday and ran out of static grass basing the last two of them.

I'm still trying to make my mind up if I should keep the grey highlight on the armor or use a brighter green.

I like the grey, gives it a very crisp metallic look to it. Green might make it look plasticy.

Those look really nice and a good choice of colours. Well done.

Sounds nice. The 1:72 VIIC is somewhere in the ballpark of 0.7m in lengt. The problem with that kit is that building one without a full set of interior compartments (you cut holes into one side of the hull so you can assemble and see them) seems quite pointless and the resin compartments are quite pricy, in the ballpark of 40 pounds per compartment.

Main reason I avoid subs is they are pretty boring to do, pretty much stick the two halves together, splash on some paint and you're done. If you went all out with the resin that would make a very nice model but 40 pounds each compartment would add up a little fast I think. Would be great to do up both the corvette and the u-boat in 1:72 to have the two old opponents together, hunter and hunted.

Best thing about that B-17 was the 15 pound price tag. I've spent more on paints for this plane.

Yeah, I have a large collection of modern 1:350 subs that have been build pretty much as a stress relievers because they don't require anything fancy, and the collection is pretty nice looking (around 15 subs in it currently).

The 1:72 VIIC base kit includes bunch of detail on itself, the cannon, the tower and torpedo doors for example, but for a such large model it would be nice to have much more and the resin compartments are pretty nice. Thinking of maybe getting the sub+eduard PE+exterior resin kit+ one compartment for starters and putting it all together and then looking for additional compartments.
