    Weather permitting.
Expect more than usual (mock up) nuke missile launchers on that parade as a show of force plus their best tanks that never went to the front.

Also flags and signs of the shithole villages that they conquered
Here are the 2021 comparisons for Moscow:

    Troops: 12,000 comprising:
    Land Forces: around 6,000 troops
    Navy: around 2,000 troops
    Aerospace Forces: around 2,800 troops
Strategic Missile Forces: around 700 troops
    National Guard: around 1,500 troops

    VEHICLES: 190 comprising:
    Tanks: T-90M (28), T-80BVM (15), T-72B3M (31)
    Infantry fighting vehicles: BMP-3 (15), Kurganets-25 (4), Bumerang (4)
    Armored personnel carriers: BTR-82A (20), Typhoon-K (7), Tiger-M (5)
    Rocket launchers: Iskander-M (1), Tornado-G (9), Smerch (9)
    Artillery: Msta-S (6), Koalitsiya-SV (6), 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV (2)
    Air defense systems: Buk-M3 (1), Tor-M2 (1), Pantsir-SM (2)
    Military trucks: Kamaz-63968 Typhoon-K (3), Ural-4320 (12), Kamaz-43118 (12)

    [thanks ChatGPT!]
Ok the comparison is kinda funny:

    Troops: 8000 (-33%)

    Vehicles: approx 50 (-74%)
Tanks: Zero (apart from ceremonial T34 that always opens it) (-100%)

    Aerial forces: Zero (-100%)

Parade lasted 45 mins vs usual multi-hours.

That T-34 was bought from Laos. Where did the rest of them go? Surely there must be few in Kubinka or some other museum? Are they in such disarray, they can't even organize their parade as in years prior?

All of the T-34-85s you'll see in these parades were Czech-built after the war, AFAIK.

A Russian acquaintance on another forum mentioned

"I am at loss for words again:
Governor of Primoriye put to vote a new local law, which promises free homes for orphans who sign up to fight in Ukraine."

    What a thoroughly efficient idea.

So when is Ukraine announcing its counter offensive? Bakhmut seems to be the Schwerpunkt for the current attacks.

Max lols if the announcement is made by Ukraine‘s ESC entry during the show tomorrow.

I still think the soil is not solid enough to support western tanks.
Atm they are having great success at Bakhmut, why start a offensive now?
Instead put more pressure on Bakhmut and force Russia to either lose this front of commit reinforcements to it.
Reinforcements that would have been used to counter the offensive.

Bakhmut is currently a dilemma Russia haven't figured out an answer to. Let them come up with a answer first, before you give them a new.

The Ukrainian tactic is to poke and prod at the Russian lines looking for weakness. Already some Russian units have withdrawn leaving the flanks of other units flapping.

Ukraine doesn't need some massive attack to sweep eastward. That would allow the Russians to concentrate their remaining resources at the one location. Instead they are keeping the Russians guessing as to where the hammer will strike. That is erroding the morale of Russian troops who cannot stay on high defensive alert for months without exhustion.

The Ukrainians are also picking away at the Russian supply lines again. The reports that the UK has supplied missiles with 300 km range concrete buster missiles is freaking the Russians out as they expect the Kerch bridge to be struct again. And even the Russian tactic of sending missiles and drones to blow up civilians is failing as the Ukrainians shoot down a higher and higher percentage, even the supposedly un-interceptable hypersonic missile.

So I suspect that we will see a Russian sudden withdrawal and collapse rather than a fullblown Ukrainian offensive.

Russia isn't exactly making any mistakes.
Look at it like a chess game, Russia got no good moves.
As time passes short term, situation improves for Ukraine. Maybe even a bit longer.
So they want to force Russia's hand. Make them worsen their board state. The moment those reinforcements are committed, Ukraine will exploit it.

    Don't reinforce Bakhmut, lose Bakhmut.
    Reinforce Bakhmut, weaken Melitopol.

Ukraine may be happy to hold off on the Big Push a little longer if they just got a batch of fancy new Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Let the ground dry for another week or two, keep probing for weak spots and attriting Russian artillery, and meanwhile whack a choice selection of the fuel depots, ammunition stores, command posts and so on that the Russians have about 90km behind the lines, just out of HIMARS range.

As far as i read about, there're still shitloads of armor about to arrive, MBTs and IFVs. I don't think we will see a counter before mid June as some main batches of 80-100 Leopard A1a4 will arrive early June. And with UK providing Storm Shadow, Ukraine will want to target ammo dumps and command posts with them before the offensive but who knows maybe an opportunity will present itself and Ukraine will seize it.

In the meantime Russian regular army will deteriorate more as we can see in the limited counters around Bakhmut. Ukraine's biggest problem in some areas are the extensive Russian defense structures and minefields especially in the south.

So on the plus side for waiting longer, more weapons/ammo will arrive, Russian regular army will deteriorate more. On the other hand Russian could extend their defense. I don't want to be in the shoes of Ukraine's chief military guy, so many things to consider and so many life depends on it.
Does a population have informed consent when that population is not taught the inner workings of its monetary system, and then is drawn, all unknowing, into economic adventures?

Wagner are pissed that Russians are fleeing from the front positions around them, leaving them vulnerable to encirclement, so they shoot retreating troops to deter the next ones from running away.
This phenomenon began around March of 2022.

Wagner are not the only ones with this task - the Russian army also employs friendly fire units that kill retreating Russian troops to promote a more aggressive assault.
