Problem was known to BW but in Germany they maybe fire 24 rds over 14 days of maneuver and the problem was ignored. The Ukrainian are firing -as I heard- up to 400 every day out of the PzH2000. They need to lower the barrel when loading to avoid the shell slipping back. But probably KMW engineers are looking for a solution already.
This kind of "Things that actually happen when they're used for realsies" information is priceless when it comes to iterating on designs.

Another delightful present under the tree for NATO.

Assuming that those estimated losses were from the "actually operational, made in the last couple of decades" segment of the Russian air arm, that is quite a significant force reduction. This is a loss as bad as the Moskva for Russia (although maybe not quite as bad from a propaganda POV). I can only imagine the intense competition to not be the guy that brings this news to Moscow.

Although I we're not 'internet doctors', I would still recommend that the local commander take a journey to one the noted spa towns of Wayovertheria for the good of his health.

The absolutely massiveexplosions indicate something other than aircraft was hit as main target(s). secondary damage to anything out in the open could still account for a great number of aircraft and aux vehicles.
Its also said that this is 220km behind front lines, few things known to operate in this war can reach that, and reach it with accuracy (i.e speculation that something new just entered the scene).

    Good shit!

The slow explosion velocity from the two big ones means it was fuel not ammunition.

Nah, it was just a minor ammunition handling accident with no significant damage:

Russia's Defence Ministry said that several aviation munitions detonated at the Saky airfield. Aviation equipment was not affected. No casualties are reported. Russia's Ministry of Defense assures that there was no shelling at the site where the ammunition was stored.

Yes but was it sabotage or a ballistic missile? We know there was a small dronestrike on Black Sea HQ on their navy day so clearly Ukraine have people in the area. Hit the right spots and you could get lucky.

    Edit

Just adding some information. The Saky airport that was hit is 270km away from Odessa.

If cars in the nearest car park look like that, I'm sure those planes are a-ok and will be bombing ukrainians malls, schools and hospitals next week.

This event will be recorded in Russian history books:
"Latest news from Russia: hospital for ammunition was hit on Crimea. Due to heroic efforts nearly all shells could be transferred to another hospital. This is a war crime. According to unconfirmed rumors, Maria was a shell nurse. Due to her heroic actions several wounded shells were saved. Bomb #20 was a special case: "Because I must explode in 75 seconds."

When I see a bird that walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck id call it a duck.
And if the bird denies to be a duck it is a russian duck.

Time for Russians to realize they started a war. 100 km traffic jam - people want to leave Crimea.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine would like to remind everyone that the presence of occupying troops on the territory of Ukrainian Crimea is not compatible with the high tourist season.

Only decoys, trampled on the chaos that the small ammunition handling mishap caused, luckily no one was injured in the stampede.

Here's a question for all the armchair experts here (no sarcasms and irony, I'm pretty sure someone here knows it). How did Ukraine manage to lauch HARMs? Are they fired similiar to AMRAAM mad dogs, without lock from the platform? There's some fancy jury rigging going on here. Even so, rails can be adopted, but does it support launch without internal guidance? I was always under impression you need to lock on the target you're shooting at before it switches towards it's own sensor. So many questions and Hels etc is nowhere to be seen. Help me out DCS bros, because I have F4:BMS memorized and it shouldn't be possible.
