Zelenskiy then gave the helmet of one of the most successful Ukrainian pilots, inscribed with the words “We have freedom, give us wings to protect it” to the speaker of the house.

Of course, big-mouth Boris Johnson couldn't help but chime in, to support this. And now the UK government is looking for ways to give Ukraine fighter jets in the medium-term. I can't see that ever happening, but Zelenskiy is great at getting what he needs.

As i have said many a time he is indeed the correct person at the right time just as many a example in history (mostly mentioned is of course Chrurchill).

"His speech constantly evoked Britain’s grit in the second world war and the stakes for Europe in this war"

Master of sentiment, excellent speech writing which i understand he has a big involvement in. He did the same in Nl last year referring to the Dutch war of independence and defence against the aggresor Spain in 14th and 15th century.

The backlash or blowback of this arms supply will be there after the war tho. It is known in history. For now the aging F-16s are better used in Ukr than rotting in a hangar in NL or any other country in my opinion.

UK has now said that they are willing to train Ukrainian pilots on nato fighters if that ever becomes relevant.

I wonder if he comes up with this all by himself or if he also has writers for that like most politicians do. Regardless - I fully agree: the right man at the right time.

Its relevant because it will take some time to retrain pilots to NATO standard aircraft, so puts Ukraine in a position to use them effectively if they are sent. Currently Russian air force has an edge due to larger engagement window, this would reverse it and sets a clock on Russia losing air superiority, which would push them towards negotiations.

I some ways the new Russian offensive has already begun.

Wagner is being replaced at Bakhmut by mobilised soldiers because they lack the strength to keep attacking. Wagner forces sufferred something like 60% casualties as they were being used as cannon fodder and thrown again and again into assaults over the corpses of their comrades. As a result few mercs are re-enlisting once the six months is up. The Russians are trying to mobilise the ex-mercs but many prefer jail over serving again. And their fellow immates now know what awaits so new recruits are drying up.

The problem for Russia is casualties are so high troops earmarked for the new offensive are being fed in to replace destroyed units.

The fresh recruits tossed in a Bakhmut were so unprepared that a 1,000 were supposedly killed in one day.

4 different scenarios for what might currently happening at Bakhmut and what that might potentially mean for the Ukraine.

I am of the opinion that the Russians don't need to be shown how any military equipment should be made, I rather see them turning out substandard shit.

Pretty sure most people call that what it is, being a piece of shit and deserving nothing but ridicule, but Razor gets the "poor rus man, he just doesn't know any better" shit. Man's a complete cunt, way better than him have likely been drafted to fight in something they didn't believe in or spout as much prop as he did.
This. The rewriting of history by some here - Discord Bros ? - is astounding. I've been butting heads with the guy for years and calling him - and his RusStrong bullshit - out for what he / it is He's a cunt and his apathy then and now is evidence enough for me to belive nothing has changed.

They're demonstrating they're not capable of producing anything else. They don't have the domestic production capacity to produce sufficient amounts of even substandard equipment.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Just one battalion but it was a battalion that got wiped inside of a few hours. Someone made a terrible decision.

    But what of Ukrainian losses?

Unless it was a full on "Drive into a minefield that has been pre-ranged by artillery who happen to be expecting you" there will have been some.

That was actually exactly what happened.
