Interesting things to keep an eye on probably happening in Belgorod region.
Mainstream media says Russian fighters serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (The Freedom of Russia Legion) claim to have seized settlements in the Belgorod region, located near to the Ukrainian border, specifically Kozinka, and have entered Graivoron.

This is too perfect. In every way…

”Putin claimed a 400-year-old map proved Ukraine isn't a real country— Not noticing it has 'Ukraine' written on it”

In the meantime, Prigozhin says war in Ukraine has backfired, warns of Russian revolution. A more recent event in hystory.

Prigozhin also says Wagner pulling out of Bakhmut now that they have fully taken it.
    Letting RU army hold it.

UKR can probably trade it back for a few cases of Vodka.

I dont trust a fuckin thing these people say.

And while keeping to that, I wonder if Prignazi has told Putin its just an act because people have said less and suddenly found their windows being very unsafe.

There's a map from 1943 which shows the EU territory going upto the outskirts of Moscow if we are using old maps to determine borders....

Wagner had a contract for taking Bakhmut, and he has wanted out of that clusterfuck for months now.
RU failing to get them sufficient supplies was a breach of contract he tried to use many times.

Ukrainians to practise flying Swedish Gripens, but there will be no supply
For context, it was absolutely impossible to transfer Archers and Leopards to Ukraine as well (until it was announced as delivered).

Years ago, Sweden and Ukraine signed a deal for intention to buy Gripen.
Due to money issues, no orders were placed.

Reason why Ukraine is getting F-16 over Gripens is the availability of frames.
Hardly any Gripens that can be transferred vs heaps of F-16's.
Gripen is clearly the better choice, but urgency takes priority.

If they get anything but readily available lwftover F16, or should be F35. It's the best plane there is, spares in active production, probably the cheapest as well (remember to add in replacing losses of less capable planes) and for any mission you want to fly, you'll have a ready made tool in uncle Sam's toybox.

So if the US wants to supply Ukraine with them, they would be the best bet.

No way is the US supplying Ukraine with F-35s. Look at the kicking and squealing and foot-dragging over letting other nations supply F-16s. Even the handful of Abrams agreed to won't be on the front line for another 4-5 months.

And honestly, big fail-cascade vibes coming out of Russia now. Not now that those Freedom of Russia dudes or whatever they're called have shown that a bunch of happy chucklefucks can go re-enact Stripes over the border whenever they feel like it and there aint much Russia can do about it without diverting thousands of troops they simply cannnot spare if they want to defend Kherson and Zhaporizhia (how do you spell that? fucked if I know).

Either Russia cede the territory west of the Donbas, or Ukraine start getting that DMZ they said they wanted.

There are hundreds of F-16s in storage. While the F-35 is in production, there are too many F-16s around. Not to mention what Malc pointed out.

You get at least three F16s for the cost of one F35 and it is not three times better, especially when you are fighting on your side of the airspace.

They will fly rather on Mirage 2000 then F35, besides F16. Mirage is a wonderful plane for ground attack, better then Aero L-159 supplied by Czechs, which are slower, less solid then SU25.

If you guys had actually read what I've written, you'd see that I adressed those points:

    - Surplus ("free") F-16s are cheaper than paying for F-35 <- was in my post.
    - US may be reluctant to give anyone F-35 <- was in my post
(btw, it was a generic "we don't want to give Ukraine fighters". And that seems to have quieted WAY down since it was shown that Patriots can intercept russians "hypersonic" weapons.)

As for !!!buying!!! stuff other than F-35 being cheaper, I'm basing that on Peruns video about Defense economics in general and specifically the section here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z_gTGJc7nQ&t=3162s
Reminder that I have the disclaimer for replacing less capable airframes in my post. And if you think the russian air defence system is so weak that you can fly a 4th gen fighter in a CAS role inside the russian AD envelope without losing any, you're wrong (that is only my opinion, I have no sources other than my ass for that, but my ass is damn certain of that). After all, if you're not playing with Uncle Sams toys, you're talking about the Tornado for SEAD missions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppre...ses#By_country

Fun fact I didn't know is that it seems that the F-16 is still the US platform of choice for the SEAD mission, so I was actually wrong about something.

Feel free to post actual sources that contradict mine.

It's not that you were wrong it's just that it comes better from prettier posters.

I don't think your first post reads how you intended it.
