    [Sunday] Slept IN

Obviously someone's alarm didn't wake them up for the daythread.

After a nice day of sunshine between rainstorms, my area is determined to keep me indoors.
Also, tired as hell after getting sunburnt again for the second time in two weeks, I spent an afternoon at a lunch for alumni at my uni and met the chancellor and various other graduates from the first few classes after the uni was established.

Now to make inroads with the chancellor's staff so I can gain power and steal all the BPOs.

Just don't, like, get on a plane bound for China as your escape route once you're done. I hear that doesn't always go well.

Today I went shopping and that's about it.

So after finally sorting shit out in my own house I call mum and she's found "A lump" and has to go to hospital for an immediate bunch of tests. After loosing my friend at 19 to leukemia I thought i'd had my fair share of this shit but apparently not. At least breast cancer is treatable (well far more than other types) and it might not even be cancer but tbh knowing my luck...

Sorry to hear that. Indeed, it doesn't have to be breast cancer and if it is, there's a good chance that it's treatable.

There's no such thing as your fair share. Not for the loved ones, not for the patients. Things just happen and we have to deal with them.

Discovered today that I am now officially old enough not to understand today's kids.

For some reason I have a rep as a know-it-all smug cunt so my lazy friends often direct their kids in my direction when certain obscure fields of knowledge are required - like world affairs.

So kid has an assignment due on Tuesday and of course I get rung on late Sunday. Topic is to write a background on a recent world event. Sounds easy right.

So I start by asking if they had seen anything interesting on the news in the past few days?

    I don't watch the news.

Uh, ok well what is going on in the world that interests you?

    The Royal tour

I suppose that rates as they are from the UK. So why is the British Royal family important to Australia?

    Don't know.

Well they are the Head of State. The Queen is the current Head of State and one day Prince William will be too.

    But they are not Australian?

This goes back to Federation and our constitution.

You mean like the Bill of Rights and stuff?

No that is the American Constitution, we have our own. Don't you remember the referendum on becoming a Republic?

    No. What's a Republic?

A form of Government headed by a President.

But we have a President, Abbott.

No he is our Prime Minister.

I thought Julie Gillard was our PM?

Can I speak with your mother for a second.....

Wait for them to reveal what's the next expansion, then decide. Apparently boring as hell atm.

I slept in, also need to go through my breaded goods before they start getting mold. Stupid bagels.

IN other news, seeing my uncle and a relative (something something he apparently is at cowell) for lunch today before they head back up to their home. It's a good followup from yesterday's lunch and wine.

    What kind of bagels ?

Here in the UK, from Tesco and other supermarkets, you can purchase bagels branded "New York Bakery Co."

They're rather good, but one curious thing I have noticed, is that if say, you bought them on the 21st April, and they were marked "best before 27 April", then they're perfectly fine right up to the 27th, and then on the morning of the 28th, blam! bluey-green mould right out of nowhere. Not a trace of it the day before.

    Quite odd.

    Hope everything is OK.

It's always been the case that people make strange websites. Some of them intentionally (zombo.com), some of them unintentionally (timecube.com)

    -O
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those Thukkers, that way I wouldn't have to have any goddamn stupid useless conversations with anybody.
