Felt a bit fan-servicey, but then the series has been heavy on that so far. I still enjoyed it.

      Spoiler:
I get the vibe Burnham would rather stay and take her chances in the mirror universe

So they were in mirror universe all the time in the first place? Or just jumped in there now?

I feel like you are very alone with that opinion.

    Pretty much

I watched some DS9 ones recently, they're really great. They come up quite early while the regular plot is still finding its way so they seem even better.

Tbh I'd watch a series set in the MU.

Discovery's writers are probably pleased with that idea

I'm calling it that what happened on the Buran wasn't as it appears to be and our captain Lorca is actually MU Lorca

    That was an enjoyable episode.
      Spoiler:
Was it also implied that mirror discovery is in the normal universe?

That episode was both a lot of fun and still progressed character development and the overall plot.

Hey, what a surprise, the spore drive was just a macguffin!

Cool episode, but my loathing for other dimensions where all the characters are exactly the same cannot be stated.

After billions or years with evolution.
    Countless wars
    Diseases

Your genetic line is still identical?
Chance for that is 1: X billions.

Infinite universes though, so even the smallest probabilities eventually approach 1.

Maybe its easier to jump to alternate dimensions where the timelines are more similar

    My immediate thinking was...
      Spoiler:

The Lorca on the Discovery stems originally from the Mirror Universe and somehow swapped sides with the other Lorca, given his "Let's kill all Klingons" approach. And because he seemed to know the Spore drive "address" of the Mirror Universe. And the Lorca in the Mirror Universe is the "good guy" there, trying to lead a rebellion against the emperor.

It was a good start into the second half of the season. Which made me wonder: will the rest of ST:DISCO be set in the MU - showing their long way back (similar to ST:VOY) and that this is the main overall plot arch. Or is that just a 2-3 episode plot and the Federation-Klingon war will be it?

    Oh, and ...
      Spoiler:

... what do we make of Tyler now? Is he a Klingon who L'Rell bio/gen-engineered into a human. Or is he a human who she gen-/mind-manipulated into some kind of Manchurian candidate?

    "The enemy is here!" ;-)
