Skype was going in the background and her mom is visiting her in SF this weekend. Didn't remember it being up. At least she only had good things to say.

On the off-chance, can I have your eve password? Also, your bank details.

After six weeks of trying to use an IKEA Desk I broke down and spent $3,100 on something more solid. Apples vs. Oranges but hopefully this will be better for my health and it's entirely a business expense which makes it a bit more reasonable.

Part of one on my jobs years and years ago involved cabling these suckers (well not these ones specifically). The jokes about me spending so much time under peoples desks are still ongoing.

You program them to specific heights, one for the right height to work on when you are standing and one for when you are sitting. The desk goes up and down (obviously) with everything on it, which in some cases can be 20-30kg of computer equipment and accessories. It would be pretty impossible to do that without it being automatic, especially to the exact correct height every time.

Basically they are to help stop you getting a bad back and RSI (or whatever its called now) by constantly changing your position but still maintaining a comfortable height for everything.

Yep I did my research, the electronic / motorized ones are the only option.

There are some hand-cranked one but apparently those suffer from a problem with any misbalance causing the desk to not lift equally which leads to hilarity. The model I bought can lift (safely) 315lb (142kg) or 2 Aeas. The pro model (which was out of the price range and a bit too strong aesthetically) can do double that.
