in regards to EU servers and where to roll

The big(ish) ones:

* I think Gandara is still a good choice. It's quite a bit smaller than Desolation and it's the 2nd unofficial UK server which usually brings decent people who want to have a good time but avoid the standard choice with the zerg. It will still be among the top ~5ish and fighting with the big servers constantly. It could still end up having long WvW queues, no way to know for certain.
* Desolation is almost guaranteed to have WvW queues and you will constantly be put in the overflow servers for various zones. It's the FOTM choice and my gut feeling is it will be terrible.
* Far Shiverpeaks - Dutch / Scandinavian server. It's going to have a bunch of annoying Scandinavian guilds on it, a few of which I already recognize. Fuck dat shit.
* Whiteside Ridge seems to have some Italian guilds, but it's not the "unofficial Italian server" - it could end up having a bunch of Italians on it though, since half the guilds registered on it on gw2guilds.org are Italian

Another option is also just picking a lower/medium pop server and see where it goes from there - could be fun with a more tight knit community and being almost certain that you'll have no WvW queues. Honestly I don't care about winning WvW every team or zerging it up, I care about being able to get in and running around with 5-10ish people wrecking havoc

The medium pop ones that have potential:

* Seafarer's Rest - almost exclusive English guilds, seems chill
* Boreal Station - almost exclusive English guilds, seems chill
* Underworld - apparently has some Portuguese going there, already has a bunch of Greek guilds registered too
* Ring of Fire - some Romanians apparently, not that many registered

No way in hell:

* Vabbi (Russian guilds)
* Ruins of Surmia (unofficial Spanish)
* Blacktide (unofficial Russian/Polish)
* Fissure of Woe (unofficial Italian)

The rest are probably going to be pretty low pop.

TL;DR: Gandara / Seafarer's Rest / Boreal Station all seem like good choices. Gandara could be overcrowded and have WvW queues, would suck

If there are pirate hats available for all professions, then Seafarer's Rest just for the inevitable Pirate themed WvW crowds, servers with identity, best servers.

lilttle note on whiteside ridge: from what i heard the italian guilds going there aren't the "herpderp i only speak italian" guys also its where the EU guild from reddit is going

Yeah, the reddit community is a really mixed bag, best to avoid in-game imo (like most large communities I guess).

IMO the servers that are off the radar are the best ones to go for. From past experience they seem to have the lowest count of hopeless tryhards and noisy bads, but still develop a quality hardcore contingent pretty quickly.

Pretty sure our US consensus is Ehmry Bay, with plans to form a guild called Baywatch. EU seems to still be all over the place.

Maybe they want to be on a server when peak time WvW is within their peak timezone?

I cant see roaming around WvW when the majority of the enemies are at work/asleep as being hugely enjoyable.

Ideally, yes, everyone on one server would be cool but I think the biggest unknown is ping times. Did anyone ever confirm how good, or bad, ping times were for WvW / PvP for euros playing on US servers?

If there was little or no difference, then yes, play with EBay but I imagine a few peeps take their pvp more seriously than I do.
