the pve fucking rules. i never played gw1, so when i saw how it's designed, i was pretty much blown away. this game's "questing system" literally shits on everything else.

i'd also like to add that even in the slightly unoptimized state the game is in, the environment is really pretty. my buddy was telling me that on release, my graphics card will have more effect than it does currently.

right now i'm a necromancer. they are mid to close range, and do good dps. they are only weak when defending a gate, because you only have 2 attacks that can reach the attackers. then again i'm only like level 7?

Confirming that the PVE just keeps on giving. Some of the later skill challenges are pretty sick. Also discovered the first underwater dungeon with some tricky puzzles inside, solved a few but lost that fkn sword of the statue and couldnt continue, prolly gonna get back in there after lunch.

WvWvW is insane, the amount of ownage we can do with a coordinated group
I'm sure it's frustrating to be sperging about how someone said "no, not doing that yet" - but we've had 7 years to learn to pace ourselves after killing a block. And I dare say -- we've gotten quite good at it.

Sorry if it doesn't suit the armchair generals who have never committed to anything for more than 2 months, but by now we've learned that we really don't give a shit about what you think v0v.

I thought elementalist solo'ing was just fine when I did it last BWE - ran around with staff because I used the speed skill from air all the time when just moving around (+ the heal while in air attunement to give +speed too)

the underwater combat is fucking sweet! in WvWvW, there is a ton of it. a friend and i hid underwater near the weather control thingy, and when some poor bastard tried to ninja it, we ganked him like in jaws.

EDIT: Nah, I think if you're not in a guild you just hit the G button to bring up the pane, and you can search from there?
Doesn't work for me. What're you looking at again?
I am also trying to figure out how to join guilds. Do we have an FHC one yet on the USA server?
Until something better shows up just whisper or send a mail to Ruriruri on Ehmry Bay. I'm being social later this evening but I'll def. be online later (11 PM +) US east.

Edit: Made Jolin an officer he couldn't refuse, so pm him too. Don't seem to be many folk on but maybe we can get a team together for shittin' around later.

    I purchased the commander upgrade today(cost 3g).

Because I now flag up on the map in WvW as a commander, I have my own personal army of bads following me everywhere I go.

    Quaggan likes you, very much.

Completed Snowden Drifts with friends, completed Gendarran Fields when they weren't around. Now up to L34 and off to bed, should be home tomorrow night just in time to catch the BWE finale.

    the underwater shit confused me

anyway i enjoyed the beta muchly again, finished wayfarer foothills and did a load of snowden drifts.

did hardly any pvp compared to last time but really enjoyed the pve stuff i did but i didnt enjoy the human starting area anywhere near as much as the norn or charr. Think ill be rolling a norn elementalist and charr engineer at release, really enjoyed what ive played of the two characters.

The finale event was actually neat this time instead of a mob grind. Some crystal dragon was flying over the Charr starting area corrupting waypoints and players. Corrupted players turned into mobs and were able to fight and down non-corrupted ones till they became corrupted. Crystal zombie plague is a go.

Yeah, it was interesting. They corrupted the waypoints so that anyone who spawned at one was converted into a creature of evil. Problem being, people didn't figure this out until after it had started snowballing because most folk were throwing themselves at a level 80 champion monster and getting one-shot in droves. Plus they spawned the faction champions (Rytlock and Eir) well after the monster spawn and they didn't appear to be moving towards each other, so there was no epic destined showdown or anything, just masses of evil players ganking the dwindling pool good guys.

Overall I had more issues this time around, there were about half a dozen skill point challenges that simply didn't work, but on the whole it went v. smoothly. The guild system is fantastic, once you join a guild with one character you have the option to "represent" it with any of your characters, so it's really more like the player is joining a guild rather than just their characters individually. The guild crafting system -looks- interesting but I doubt I'll spend any time on it. Likewise item crafting, the bank system for mats is fucking brilliant but I was just too busy exploring. Solved the jumping puzzle skill point in the Charr starting area and felt p. :smug: Also discovered the joy of Guardians wielding great hammers and swords, I'm honestly torn between that and my Elementalist with speed traits because if you're running around a lot having an essentially permanent Swiftness buff is n1.

Verdict is still I Bought This Game Already Just Release It And Stop Teasing Us You Bastards.

I made it to level 35 about 10 minutes before the servers went down, was exploring the Charr areas anyway so didn't have far to go for the finale.

Reported a few bugs on their forums afterwards, now back to waiting around again.

GW2 does a lot right. It is quite different as the primary mitigation technique is moving yourself out of red circles or melee range on telegraphed attacks. It's not a stat based mitigation like wow, and it is indeed closer to D3 with the movement, but with an actual dodge button that will negate any attack once you hit it, it takes personal skill more than anything else. I've seen very few attacks that make you stay rooted in place while preforming them, and the only ones I've run across were on the warrior who has a higher than normal stat mitigation.

So in combat you are always moving. I mean that literally, always moving or you are likely to end up dead or severely wounded in the next few moments. There is no tank, but there are classes who can take hits better and there are classes who can heal hits better. But there is no real dedicated healer. At most the elementalist can get 2 group heals and those are both on semi long cooldowns.

GW2 takes more of many of the same skills that WoW and D3 do. You can do ok with a normal skill level but you can be frankly amazing when you're on top of your game and playing your best.
