When did 'coherent storyline and just good fun' become a 'meh' movie?

Don't get me wrong, completely agree it's not 'must see' but compared to the average Bey shitstorm RP1 did what it was supposed to: solidly entertained.

(I'd also lol at anyone suggesting that it should win any prizes).

Looks fun. Not entirely sure how I feel about Tom Hardy's acting in the trailer, but will still see out of curiosity.

Oh yes I perfectly agree with all that. I might have expected a bit too much from all the reviews i read. They did overdo it with the nostalgic flashbacks tho.

It's definitely not a best picture type, but it's certainly worthy of awards for it's cgi

Am I the only one who thought the CGI looks like a pile of ass, then?

Also; doesn't the symbiot get most of its visual ques, ticks and movements from when it was attached to Spiderman? Without Spiderman does an origin story even make any sense?

Honestly it's not ground breaking. It was good enough but not 'wow I've never seen it this good'. It would mark a shitty CGI year if it won, also its released at the wrong time of year.

I mean granted the year is still young, but it doesn't really have many contenders yet.

Went and saw Avengers 3 this morning (if you hate people then 8am showings are for you, only
    10 in my screen)

      Spoiler:
Thanos gets to click his fingers

Went very differently to how I thought it would go down.

      Spoiler:
Hulk is a scaredy sulk, RIP Loki and, uh, literally 50% of everyone, hero's included)

A quiet place was decent, some dumb stuff but otherwise fine, and they didn't stretch the movie unnecessary, as the premise is still quite thin and there isn't that much you can do with it. Could have had less shots of the Monster.

Paramount Pictures said Wednesday hit horror movie "A Quiet Place" was getting a sequel and ended mounting speculation over its lucrative "Star Trek" franchise by confirming two new movies.

    . . .

Gianopulos announced a string of sequels in partnership with Skydance Media, including a new "Terminator" with Linda Hamilton from the original movie back on board with Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Top Gun: Maverick" with Tom Cruise -- and two new "Star Trek" films.

Tantalizingly, he offered no details and it remains unclear if these will be a continuation of the reboot franchise or if they include a previously announced "Star Trek" movie from "Pulp Fiction" director Quentin Tarantino.

New Terminator with Linda Hamilton and Schwarzenegger? Would watch, but not sure if it will be good. Do cyborgs age?

    Ugh, to new Top Gun.

Wary about more Nu-Trek, wondering what they will to with Chekov.

Looks ok to me. I guess his venom face/tongue/teeth could be better.
