dpidcoe no longer posts here so it's safe to admit that I liked it
We would also have accepted something about the space suits not being inflated enough.

Not-over-analyzing everything you watch gives you a much wider scope of "fun"

At least anime taught me that liking shit things is alright if you enjoy it

This isn't bait though, if you derive entertainment value from something that evidently isn't a perfect media, then do you still enjoy it?

Saw Valerian on Friday. It was fun but certainly won't attain cult status of Fifth Element.

Additionally there was too much pro illegal immigrant/refugee narrative for my taste.

People in their late 20's and early '30's realising that films tend to reflect political issues of when they were made for the first time.

    Tragically adorable.

See also: there are precisely zero gay characters in Hollywood movies who's sexuality isn't the main/only reason for the character existing

This is because Hollywood has to market for countries where gay characters are unpalatable.

Could be loads of gay characters and it just never comes up.
Wolverine is gay, for example. Just not important to the story.
Mr T from the A team was a gay black man. Quite revolutionary for the time, but again wasnt focussed on because it wasnt that important
    Wolverine is gay?

    Yes.

Or the comics, since he is forever in love with Jean Grey.

No here the police would clear the road setting up bypass routes. If that was a real thing until now.
